About the Author

The biggest advantage to reading this book is the amount of time you'll save by not having to do this research alone. I'm a member of various comedy websites, and Mr. Durham has managed to consolidate every possible question new comics might present. It may not have all the answers, but its pretty close! If I had to point out a negative thing, it would be the limited list of comedy resources at the end of the book. Perhaps listing additional references on the web, or some or his favorite comedy writers would have been a nice touch. But make no mistake - reading this book will prevent you from being blindsided by issues that happen in this industry. I recommended Mr. Durhams book to my DC Comedy Writers Group, and every new comic that I meet. If Amazon allowed me to provide more than 5 stars, I would continue to give it additional stars.
There are other paths to success in stand-up comedy besides being a road comic in comedy clubs. I would have liked to have seen the author write about alt-comedy but he probably wanted to stick to what he's familiar with.
