This replacement seal set doesn't have the seal with the inside seal profile (see the set: M-D Building Products 01636 36-Inch by 81-Inch Steel Door Magnetic Weather-strip). I ordered this because it was white, but I failed to notice the profiles - my error. Now, when I close the door, the hinge side door edge catches the corner of the magnet within the seal and pinches it between the door and the door jam, not allowing the door to close.
I should have gone to a door company and simply order the replacement seal in town; and I'd advise you to consider the same. Now I have to find either an inside seal from a local door company or order an entire replacement set and the M-D Building Products seal set doesn't come in white, it's brown. Honestly, if it's not one thing, it's another. After pulling the corner of the seal inwards, I've closed the door and I'm hoping that over time, the seal will conform, but I have doubts. I do a lot of home repairs myself and generally pride myself on having good observation skills, but I erred on this.
My seals also came rolled-up and had some folds that miss-shaped the seal, but it installed easily enough. You'll need to have a smooth-edged tool, similar in shape to a thin ruler, in order to push the seal's kerf into the door frame's groove. Other than that, the seal and magnet cuts easily with a pair of sharp scissors.
UPDATE: I unfolded the stripping and stuck it to my metal garage door for about 4 days and it appears to be forming back to the correct shape they were 90f + days. So as I said it would be better not shipped folded but at least it seems like it will work.
Just another 40 inches would be enough to replace ALL of the original installation. You would think, at this price, the manufacturer
would want you to have sufficient material to do a COMPLETE job. Would have received FIVE stars with another 40 inches.
