Editorial Reviews

Dor is a story about love, loss, friendship, hope and ultimately, redemption. Dor has two principle characters that are from different walks of life but get bound together following certain occurrences. It's a story about Zeenat (Gul Panag), an independent, self-assured, married young woman, living in a remote Himachal Pradesh village and about Meera (Ayesha Takia) who abodes in rural Rajashtan and hails from a conventional Rajput household. A life-changing piece of news, which happens to be of common interest, reaches both these strangers and compels their life to no longer remain the same. A search begins so that life could be habitual and happy again, a bahuroopiya (Shreyas Talpade) enters the scenario and perhaps helps unravel the mysteries, leading into a powerful and unexpected ending. The story questions us on how far one can go to save her/his love, fighting all odds, perhaps even destiny.

I wasn't sure how to review this, it will not play in any of my machines. Therefore, I can't really say anything about the movie itself or the quality of the disc. I missed the 30 day window to return it, UPS refused to set a time for pick up and no one was home when they stopped and they wouldn't allow us to mail it back from the office. I can't review the movie based on the shipping issues only that they would not play in my machines and it may or may not have been a good movie and/or a quality disc, I can't say.

Loved it.. It has a feminist theme without beating us guys with a stick. So well done..and highly entertaining with the right amount of tension.

This is a very well Representative story of widows in the old India. This is so much more realistic than that farce from that anti Hindu woman Deepa Mehta's "water" which was silly, highly exaggerated and pretty much lies.

The humor in this movie is also clasic....and the the protogonistic in the story are so endearing.

The movie is tight..in terms of story telling and editing.

Loved it Loved it Loved it.

This is the kind of movie that should win Oscars

This is a well made and interesting film - good acting, architecture, scenery (mainly set in Rajasthan) - but very poor pressing, kept freezing. I had to go to <scene selection> several times to pick up the next bit of the film. It spoilt the mood!

This is a brilliant movie by Nagesh Kukonoor, especially after Hyderabad Blues and Teen Deewarein. The cultural depiction of Rajasthan and the lifestyle is outstanding.
Waiting for Nagesh to come up with another Masterpiece.
