Our family was this at a theater. I was expecting to be bored and was really surprised. It is funny and hits a home run with all ages. Awesome lesson for kids about fitting in....don't try...be yourself but it takes courage. It made us all laugh. I purchased this for movie night at my house.
Just watched for family movie night. 40+ year olds and a 12 and 14 year old. A MUST WATCH for Dora fans from back in the day. And even for non Dora fans....watch it
I purchased this movie on prime to watch in the house. My kids ages 10 and 7 loved it. There were few scenes where my 7 year old got a little scared but otherwise, we all enjoyed it.

I originally showed this movie trailer to my kids as a joke (thinking it would be similar to the tv show-which they have outgrown), but we all wanted to see it after watching the trailer. I love that it makes fun of itself (well, the original tv show). It's perfect for those that grew up watching the tv show, but are now a bit older. And it has an Indiana Jones feel to it - which we love!
I had never seen the cartoon, but all the trailers for this made it look like fun, and the movie did not disappoint. I have watched it three times now, and each time my face hurt from smiling so much. Isabela Moner is wonderful as Dora, and she shined brightly throughout. One of my absolute favorite movies of the year!

Pleasantly surprised by this family friendly campy adventure movie. It could have easily been a politically divisive movie but instead it was just fun. Lot of humor and overall a good message. My kids grew up with Dora so watching this with them was a blast. The lead character did a great job in capturing Dora's charm and quirckiness. It is along the lines of Goonies and would definitely watch again.
If you're looking for either Odysseus or Indiana Jones you're out of luck. I really can't figure out exactly what the 'target audience' is. Dora is now a teenager, so not for young children, the adventure is light but not really comedic, so not for teenagers, and the main cast is to young to be casted for an older audience. I've heard this was supposed to be a 'first' movie of a continuing series of films. It's easy to suspect that's no longer the plan. Anyways, it's an almost pointless jaunt through the forest loosely based on the Dora the Explorer TV cartoon. The movies isn't bad. It's just not good. 3 stars because you'll watch the whole thing. And won't mind rewatching it if someone else wants to see it.
Such a cute movie! Lots of great tributes to the nostalgia of the original cartoon! So nice to have a truly family friendly movie to enjoy! My 11 and 8 year old loved it!

A delightful family-movie that youngsters (5/6 upwards I suggest) will love. The story tells of how a 6-year-old Dora living in the Peruvian Jungle with her parents learns of her father's life-long quest to find the hidden and legendary Inca city of Gold Parapata. 10 years pass Dora (Isabela Merced) is sent to live with her aunt and uncle along with her beloved cousin Diego (Jeff Wahlberg) who she'd had many adventures with as a child in the jungle, while her parents who think they have deciphered the location of the lost city, go in search of it. Dora, who had learnt all she knew from her parents attends school for the first time, she tries to be friendly with all but is looked upon as strange by many. She keeps in touch with her exploring parents until one day they no longer answer. There are of course bad-guys in the tale, who, believing that Dora can help them find the gold for themselves kidnap the young teen along with her cousin Diego and two other school friends Randy (Nicholas Coombe) and Sammy (Madeliene Madden) but with a man claiming to be a friend Alejandro (Eugenio Derbez) escape into the jungle where they'd been taken. With the bad guys on their trail the search for Dora's parents and the lost city of gold swings into action. Will Dora find her parents and unlock the mystery of Parapata? With adventure and humour a-plenty coupled with a computer-animated and very clever monkey along with a devious fox, coupled with a little animation as seen in the cartoon adventures of Dora, it's a movie that kids especially will love.
Well this was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Having had children that watched that awful cartoon when they were younger, I was not looking forward to viewing this. This live action was a good watch, funny with a few references back to the cartoons. Adults and teenagerish children enjoyed it
Fun cheesy feel good movie. Have watched it twice at the cinema! Won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but it’s lighthearted and fun! Although the characters are based on the cartoon Dora it is nothing like the cartoon and is aimed at older kids and fun for adults to watch too.

If I could give this film no stars I would. It was the worst film I have ever seen. Total rubbish. Even my kids wanted to turn it off. It's annoying and it's rubbish
