I also bought The Hat Depot 300N1510 Wide Brim Foldable Double-sided Outdoor Boonie Bucket Hat for a few bucks more and there's no comparison imo. L/XL is way too tight on me. Not unexpected though since it only comes in two "shared" sizes. No head band around the outside and mesh lining like the Dorfman. 3" brim doesn't lie flat unsnapped because there's no support like the Dorfman. It wants to angle down and looks like a frumpy bonnet just like the pictures on the mannequin head show. Doesn't want to shape either :/
Dorfman Pacific gets my vote!
The hat itself is very lightweight, in a good way. It feels substantial, especially the brim and hatband areas. the brim hem is double stitched, and there are 8 concentric circles of quilt stitches holding the brim material to its liner The crown is thinner, lined with mesh. I can easily imagine soaking it in water to cool off on a really hot day.
The snaps holding the brim to the side of the crown are also substantial: the female fittings have the internal rods which grab the sides of the male part of the snap. Likewise the rivets lining the vent holes above the snaps are nice and solid.
