I had originally purchased a USED vinyl record of THIS album on December 12, 2002. Then I wanted this album in a CD format now & I bought it NEW on November 14, 2013. This Christmas album contains many well known classics & I feel that THIS album by Doris Day is EXCELLENT. I would like to offer my review of each of these songs, as follows:

1. "Silver Bells"...This is a great classic that was performed by a great variety of artists. THIS version by Doris Day is very pretty & I love it a lot. It was the Christmas Season of 1965, when I FIRST heard THIS version.

2. "I'll Be Home For Christmas"...This is also a pretty version by her & I love it.

3. "Snowfall"...I really love the magical feeling, that this song possesses, esp. w/ the gentle music & great vocals. Tony Bennett & Johnny Mathis also did a superb rendition on this song. And Billy Vaughn also did an instrumental rendition of "Snowfall" which is also pretty good.

4. "Toyland"...This is another well known classic that many others have performed. This song comes from "Babes In Toyland". Doris Day's version is quite moving & I esp. love the choir in the middle of this song. The words & actually the entire song is very nostalgic, pretty & it always gives me the chills when I listen to it.

5. "Let It Snow, Let It snow, Let It Snow"...I have always loved the romantic words & cozy feeling that this "Winter" song has. it is another fantastic song, that I love a lot.

6. "Be A Child At Christmas Time"...Here we have a song that wasn't familiar to me @ all, until I bought this record in 2002. I fell in love w/ this song immediately & I feel that it SHOULD HAVE BEEN a Christmas classic. Maybe it was a hit, but I never heard it before. It is very unique & I love these lyrics & also the Westminster Clock sound, in the middle of the song. It is also very pretty, haunting & above all, it's very spellbinding. Unfortunately, it's TOO SHORT in it's length.

7. "Winter Wonderland"...On CERTAIN versions of this song, there are some special romantic words which I have always loved & enjoyed. I'm really crazy about this other "Winter" classic & always have been. Again, it has a real happy meaning to it. Just a small TRIVIA NOTE: This version by Doris Day appeared in the Hallmark Movie called "Small Wonder", as the OPENING & INTRO song, which premiered on Sunday, November 20, 2005.

8. "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire"...This is a very nice rendition by her.

9. "Christmas Present"...Actually, I know this song as the "Loveliest Christmas Present Of Them All". I love this song a lot w/ some extra special words. It's quite pretty.

10. "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"...Another very nice rendition by her. I remember this from past holiday seasons.

11. "Christmas Waltz"...I love this song very very much.

12. "White Christmas"...A nice rendition by Doris Day.

Bonus Tracks:

13. "Deck The Halls With Boughs Of Holly"...This was recorded in 1959. I like this version & I remember this from past Christmases.

14. "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm"...Recorded in 1959 OR 1958. I have heard this song by a number of different artists. I have always enjoyed this song.

15. "Let No Walls Divide"...This was recorded in 1961. This song has very touching & inspirational lyrics. The music & the vocals are just plain GORGEOUS. And the bells & chimes are also beautiful. I've seen this SONG TITLE on numerous albums, but I DON'T think that I ever heard it before, until now. All I can say is that I love this song, very much & I'm glad to add THIS song to my collections.

This Doris Day Christmas album is GREAT & I'm so glad that I have bought it again, now on a CD, from Amazon. This album is most HIGHLY recommended, by me.

I was a little confused when first purchasing this CD because the Amazon description states "Original Recording Remastered" with a release date of January 16, 2007 yet when I received the CD it stated the date 2003 and there was no indication anywhere of the disc of it being remastered so I thought maybe I had an earlier non-remastered CD of this title. Rest assured the CD has been remastered and sounds great. I had actually communicated with the man in charge of the Doris Day Tribute website who worked on the album and also did the liner notes and he assured me that this CD has been digitally remastered. He is obviously quite knowledgeable regarding anything to do with Doris Day and his website is the best regarding Doris Day. The Amazon release date description is not exactly accurate and the CD was actually produced in 2003. As far as the CD itself goes, it is far superior to the domestic release "Doris Day Personal Christmas Collection" when comparing the sound quality which is what I was originally concerned about. A great album and well worth the price.

I have always loved Doris Day's voice. Soon to be 76, I still love her voice. I always thought she would be someone that could be my friend. She is so dedicated to the cause of animals and seems so genuine. I used to buy all of her records and LPs. Now I still love to watch the old movies from the '50's which was during my high school years. I have her newest CD My Heart and now the Christmas Album. I have purchased several other CD's from Amazon and all are definitely quality and pleasing.

I have always been a great fan of Doris Day so I had to have her Christmas CD. Her voice is beautiful and the carols she sings are beautiful. She makes you feel the cold and see the ice and snow. This album is for curling up on the sofa on a cold night, with a log burning in the fireplace. All the songs are done in a rather slow manner ... more of a romantic feel. I would have liked a couple of "jazzy" Christmas tunes on the album ... but still 5 stars because every song she sings is perfectly done.

THE Doris Day Christmas Recording to own

I can't believe they haven't released this here in the U.S. It is the Christmas album that most of us remember from younger days. The other Christmas CDs are okay, but as you'll note, this is the one you've probably been searching for.

This is a perfect CD to play while you are decorating the Christmas tree or having a holiday get-together. I just adore Doris Day's voice. I find her singing comforting and pleasant. You will, too. This is a "MUST" own cd to add to any decent Christmas music collection.
