I don't get the main character, first off. If you want girls to relate to your protagonist, let her be realistic. In this book she says so herself, that "100$! ME CHLOE AND ZOE COULD SPEND THAT IN ONE EVENING!!" I don't have a problem with wealthy people, but her situations with her family business feels very. ....specific.
Also, I know the series is called dork diaries, but her dorkiness ain't even cute! She just says cringy things and trips over everything to a point where it's just agitaiting. I just can't relate.
And the things in her head! It's sort of obvious this is written by a middle-aged woman, her reactions and slang seem too trendy-teen-goofy to be used in real language. Also, a 14 year old would have more laid-back reactions.
Then there is the storyline. TBH, just depressing. Mean girl knocks her down, BFFs get an invitation to pity party, crush says something flirty, she gets her hopes up and her life is oddly happy once again, and she loves the teenage dream for a day then loses it, every book ends with "I'M SUCH A DORK! SQUEE!" ( I hate squealing).
And if you want to teach girls something, don't teach them to sit in their room pouting instead of facing your problems!
The actual book can be fun to read, but it says no lesson, no conclusion (socially or romantically) and literally, story wise brings us right back to square one, *exasperated sigh* it will always end like this. And by the time this was released, the dorky-girl's-diary book idea was so already used.
Really, if you want a book that shows strength in girls this era and has overcoming and inspiration, not this one. However, if you wish to read a (short, I might add) book on a unrealistic teenage life, feel absolutely free, there is nothing wrong with that just not something I would personally enjoy.
Have a good day and let the force, Percy jackson, and Harry Ron and Heromine be with you.
Lol, READ PERCY Jackson!!!!!! Bye!

First it is so repetitive every five pages it says yay me. And it always says I'm such a dork yay me and cry yourself a river and build yourself a bridge and get over it.
Second she ibvites Mackenzie to her party and Mackenzie then ruins it how stupid is Niki.
