The product fitment guide from Amazon says this product does not fit my 2005 F150 with a 5.4L 3V engine. That is wrong, according to Dorman, who manufactures this cam phaser: [...]

This part will fit all Ford 5.4L 3V engines. Be aware that there was a 5.4L 2V engine used in 2004 and earlier models that does not have cam phasers (VVT), and so this product is not for that engine. This Dorman part is well known as a good replacement for the defective Ford OEM parts the engine was assembled with. Anyone replacing this should also replace the timing chain tensioners, as this is most likely the source of the problem. The tensioners used by Ford were defective and leaked oil (inside the timing cover) which reduces oil pressure to the upper engine. The phasers need 25 PSI of oil pressure minimum in order to function correctly. The leaking tensioners result in much less than 25 PSI to the phasers, and so they are damaged over time. A nice kit that includes the updated tensioners, crank sprocket, chains, and guides is here: Cloyes 9-0391SB Multi-Piece Timing Kit. You will also need the timing cover gasket set: Fel-Pro Tcs46078 Timing Cover Gasket Set and a valve cover gasket set: Fel-Pro VS50664R Valve Cover Gasket Set to complete the job and ensure no leaks afterward.

If you have done this job on an F-150 you know you don't want to do this job over. My phasers were a little noisy at about 1200 rpm, so I purchased and installed two of these. At first they were great. No noise. Then, at about 50 miles one of them started rattling like one of the old ones. Then in a few miles a horrible racket started coming from the front of one of the cam covers. The way these work is there is an internal locking mechanism that keeps the phaser from moving during startup and at idle. One of these phasers no longer locks and at idle the cam is constantly jumping from advance to retard and vice versa. While these are warrantied, the real problem is changing them out - a royal pain. I will not use another one of the aftermarket parts for this application. I have ordered the factory ford part and that is all I will use going forward.

Even after reading all the negative reviews I decided to give the Dorman phasers a chance vs paying the higher cost for the oem version. My thinking is maybe the root cause is not being addressed and these phasers are getting the blame. In my situation, bad VCT solenoids where not properly controlling oil flow to the phasers at idle speed and a broken timing chain guide and blown out tensioner seals were causing an oil pressure loss and rattle noise at start up. So far I have put 2800 miles on these phasers and they have been performing fine with no diesel noise!

I see negative reviews on these Cam Phasers .......I see nothing wrong with them . I know this might be hard to believe but that noise you're hearing my be a cracked or warped exhaust manifold ....in the 5.4 the manifolds are defective and sound like bad lifters or cam phaser . If it is exhaust it sometimes quiets down when warmed up .

This item was placed on an 04 F150 and within a couple weeks truck began acting up again. Motor was tore apart AGAIN and found that the left cam phaser had cracked and the pin had fallen out of it. Luckily pin was found. Replaced with a new phaser and truck runs perfectly.

I ordered two of these in addition to the timing set and gaskets to replace on a 2006 F150 that had a bad "Tick" at hot idle. One was missing the bolt and Amazon promptly replaced that unit. I did the repair and one of the phasers had a defect that prevented it from locking for startup. Amazon replaced that unit and I swapped it out using the "wedge" technique so as to not have to remove the front cover once again. That replacement unit seems to be fine. The original noise is gone. The phasers do make the normal light diesel sound at hot idle but it is hardly noticeable with the hood down. The Dorman Phasers have solid pins to hold on the pickup wheel unlike the original Motor Craft that had small roll pins. The source of my issue was that two of those small roll pins were missing. 3 stars because I had to go back in and replace the defective one. Otherwise it would be 5. 5 Stars to Amazon service.

Update: The replacement unit is now not locking. AVOID these like the plague! I am going to have to do this repair again and I'm going to use OEM Ford. A+ on Amazon service.

Junk!, made in China, failed after less than 5000 hwy miles. Had to open engine up again, purchase two new phasers from Ford this time and re-install. Don't buy these unless you like doing every job twice, stick with the real, Genuine Ford parts. Yeah they are more expensive, but it will save you more $$$ in the long run.

Amazon did take these back and provided a full refund.

product fits, howerver it's giving me some issues now with rattle noise, it has caused major damage to the cam shaft. The specs seem to be the same however this product in the long run is bad for the vehicle and causes damage. I have already paid over $600 on original OEM parts at the dealer due to using this product.
