Nielson is a skilled writer. The chapters surrounding his fathers illness and death, and how it affected him and the family, touched me deeply. It made me cry and brought me into the experience. In my opinion, I would have liked to read about some negative drug experiences, but I can understand the contrast and comparisons in the story.

While I was reading Dosed, there were many times I burst into tears because even though I didn't know Nielson's life, I felt his pain. As a result of this, my own pain which I was not dealing with was revealed. This book made me angry at first because it examined the truth about society and how humanity is trapped in a pathetic materialistic world. I was angry because I did not want to admit that I agreed with him and his rather pessimistic views. However, by the end of the book, I was able to accept the fact that I agreed with him, thus changing my opinions on drugs, death, and destruction.

Nielson has a way of making his reader feel uncomfortable but in the best way possible. Of course no one like to feel uncomfortable, but in this life that's all we ever are.

Finally, a book that does not waste time on fillers-every word is necessary. This author is a breath of fresh air!

Nielson has the ability to draw his reader in, creatively switch from an episode in his life to his dying father, and then hit you hard. I could not put this book down until it was done-I honestly don't remember if I have ever experienced that before. I kept wanting to know what was next in his life, what was next with his dying father, and how would this all play out in the end.

The title speaks volumes for what he writes about. There are so many parts in this book that you will think about and think about. The book made me cry, and made me re-consider my own prejudices about drug use.

I highly recommend this book to anyone.
