Product Description

DOTTIE ARCHIBALD Seeks tips from Phyllis Diller on being a female comedian. Typed letter signed: "Dottie Archibald", 1 page, 8½x11. No place, 1981 May 21. To actress and comedienne Phyllis Diller. In full: "First let me thank you for being so generous and supportive the night you saw me perform at The Horn. You were terrific. From that I take heart to ask you to share some of your experience with me. The last few months I've been running into situations that I feel are directly related to being 'female' comic. For ever so long I was sure all of us were treated the same (badly), but lately I'm not so sure. You seem to have survived so well, I wonder if you would let me 'pick' your brain a little? I know you're busy, I read every day that you are dating another zillionaire from Texas, but I'd sure like to have lunch, or brunch, or diet soda with you. Thank you for already being such a nice guy. Sincerely". At bottom she has added an autograph note, in full: "Bud Robinson gave me your address. I had to promise not to rob you!" Dottie Archibald is an actress and comedienne (Young Doctors in Love, 1982) and sit-com screenwriter (Laverne and Shirley). She was an advisor on the film Punchline, coaching stars Sally Field and Tom Hanks on the craft of the stand-up comic. Slightly soiled. Lightly creased in blank upper margin. Otherwise, fine condition. - Please contact us if you have any questions or require additional information. DOCUMENT 270596
