I really enjoyed this book. I had a hard time putting it down and spent at least one late night trying to convince myself that I really had to stop after the next chapter and go to sleep. (Three or four chapters later . . . you know how that goes). I enjoyed the characters and feel the author did a great job creating the characters and the world they inhabit. There is a little bit of "language", but there isn't much and I'll say it was appropriate to the character and situation.
I'm also frustrated as a reader when I hear that as an audience I don't exist. I've heard from several authors who are also frustrated as writers, when they have been told "there's no audience for that" story. That's one reason I'm glad that eBooks are available, we get to read great stories (like this one) that publisher's seem to avoid.
I highly recommend this book, especially if you like any sort of sci-fi or fantasy reading and like or are at least aware of video games.
Jason writes like he is in the book and makes you feel like you are watching it play out as well.
Double Jump mashes the story of a struggling adolescent outsider with a video game storyline with existential musings with adventure with spirituality with fun & humor. There is some language--not surprising given the mash-up. If you're looking for a simple, straightforward, linear, simple read, pick up a John Grisham book. If you're looking for something more fun and interesting, Double Jump is for you. Available at Amazon--or in Mankato, MN
