Double Shot (Goldy Schulz Book 12) Kindle Edition
|New from||Used from|
“Today’s foremost practitioner of the culinary whodunit.”
“In the genre of culinary mystery writers, Davidson is a Julia Child among Betty Crockers, and there is no question that Double Shot is her best book.”
New York Times bestseller Diane Mott Davidson is the darling of cozy mystery readers and dedicated foodies the world over. Davidson is really cooking with Double Shot, another tantalizing puzzle featuring her beloved protagonist, accomplished caterer and sleuth Goldy Schulz. Whipping up a rich soufflé of murder and mischief, Davidson has Goldy in a stew once again, when the reemergence of her psychopathic ex-husband and a murder that follows soon after brings chaos into her world. And, as always, many delicious recipes from Goldy’s kitchen are featured as well.

Recipes are mouthwatering and the ones I've made are easy to follow and successful.
Fortunately, I was a huge fan of the TV show Sisters (Hey! Powers That Be! Please release that series on DVD!) and sister Georgie (Patricia Kalember,) is reading this book on CD so I gave Double Shot a shot.
Hallelujah and possibly due to all the negative reader feedback to Ms. Mott, Arch has reformed and actually noticed that he is not, as he previously believed, the center and focal point of the universe. The new improved Arch has empathy and compassion!
Ding Dong, Goldie's abusive ex-husband and Arch's daddy, Dr. John Richard Korman, is dead! And so are other residents and former residents of Aspen Meadow, Colorado (the Cabot Cove of this cozy catering caper series.) This installment is well plotted and paced with all the old gang and a tasty batch of newcomers from whom to select WhoDunnit. Kalember gives a fine reading. The drawback of the CD version is that the recipes for the delectable sounding edibles are not included :-( TundraVision, Amazon reviewer
And she (Goldy) is tracking down clues to murders, but refrains from letting loose with a few curse words when they would be suitable for a scene...Sometimes Shoots & Shucky Darns & Oh Fudges, just don't get the point across- Especially when she is having a confrontation with her villains... I would be interested in seeing a movie with these characters....instead of Hollywood rehashing old movies that were good the first time around.

The Jerk has been prematurely released from prison due to a commutation of his sentence by the Governor of Colorado and Goldy fears for her life more than ever. Before a catering event Goldy is attacked by s/o unknown, her rented Longhouse is mice-infested and the Jerk demands Goldy to take Arch to see him. When Goldy and Arch arrive at the Jerk's mansion, Goldy happens upon the Jerk's dead body in the garage. He has been shot: twice in the chest cavity and once in his genitals. All of a sudden Goldy is the prime murder suspect and most of the cops can't seem to see that s/o wanted to frame Goldy for the murder. Hence Goldy and Marla start investigating again: What has the Jerk been up to? Has he been involved in something shady? Did he make new enemies? All of a sudden rumors surface that the Jerk supposedly raped a young patient several years ago and that he might have fathered another child.....
"Double Shot" does not require the reader to have double shots, because the leads are so manifold and go in so many directions, that you won't get bored for a single second! "Double Shot" is full of suspension, rich with word jokes and luscious food (try the recipes - especially "The Whole Enchilada Pie" yummee!). Lots of new relationships are evolving and making this series even more interesting.
Indulge yourself with a good read and give "Double Shot" a try! It is well worth the investment for a hardcover!
