I am literally confused with all the good reviews on here. And frankly, my trust in reviews is shaky at best!

Time jumps and lack of detail or transitions killed me. I couldn't keep up with anything. It was like there was 100 stories going on in one story. This one book could have been 4 books and probably would have been better off that way. None of the settings were described well, if at all, so you couldn't really place the scene.

The writing was immature and wordy with not much need. A sentence would be stated and then reiterated with an immaturity to it yet key details were over looked and characters had a lack of development.

Spoiler
The h was lame. Her thought process for stuff was SO IMMATURE. She would concede and not fight about anything but then at one point ignored the H for three days .. What? Why? She completely conceded to him and then randomly threw a fit.

They were devout Catholics???? What???? Uhm no. None of that was SHOWN!! They just kept saying they were. It made ZERO sense.

The h's brother apparently had a sordid past - which is why they moved back home - and the family was willing to kick him out after everything they had been thru??? You didn't get to see the h even fight a little.

H died? Time jump? Then everyone knew about it? Then h bugged places to find out the truth that he was actually in witsec??? Then he would visit her at night?? No THATS NOT HOW ANY OF THIS WORKS! what the hell.

The book has good ideas, it does, but Jesus it was so painful to read. It was bumpy and childish and just felt more like a long summary than a real good detailed book!

I HATE giving bad reviews but wow. Wow. Wow. I could barley make it thru this and really only did so I could leave a review and warn others.

Nicolas "Nico" Pena has a big happy family. When he is seventeen he meets the girl that he wants for his forever. He just needed to wait for her to grow up. Because of the age difference he
decides to join the Navy to get some distance. The unthinkable strikes Georgia's family and she runs. Nicolas decides to give her some space and time to deal with her pain. He hopes she will. return to him some day. He continues with his plans to proceed with his goal of becoming a navy seal. Time was not Nico's friend. While serving his country he has seen and done things that have begun to haunt him.
Georgia Brianne Valentine met her best friend when she was thirteen. They shared their love of soccer and they both had large families. Nikki and Georgia became fast friends. Through Nikki, Georgia met Nico, her older brother. She fell in love with him in the time it took him to pick up a soccer ball. She carried her crush for him for a long time. When Georgia was still young a horrific tragedy tore her existence apart. The situation was way too much for her to cope with and so she ran. She continued to stay away for many years. She was just making it day by day and trying to keep her family together.
After years of being apart Georgia and Nico are finally back home at the same time. When they see each other they still have the physical earnings for each other. But both have changed so much and they each fight their demons every day. They both want to connect but so many ghost are haunting them.
Double Tap is a story of love and the struggles of life when bad things happen. Sometimes the demons we struggle with will last for many years to come.
Another great job Lani Lynn Vale and what a great read. I love this series. Double Tap has heart. Thank you for your hard work.

Double Tap (Code 11-KDP SWAT #2)
By: Lani Lynn Vale
5/5 stars

Nico Pena grew up the eldest of 6 children and the only son in a Catholic-Latino home and grew up with a good home & family life, working on the family farm/ranch. He was exceptionally talented at soccer and could have gotten a scholarship and gone pro. Instead, he enlisted in the Navy and went on to become a Navy Seal, where he served a couple deployments. When he returned to the Kilgore, Texas area he joined the Kilgore Police Department and then later was recruited to become a team member on the SWAT team.

Georgia Valentine grew up on a farm/ranch that abutted to the Pena ranch. But the home and family environment was on the opposite end of the spectrum compared to how Nico grew up. Her father was an abusive drunk not only to his wife, but also to Georgia. She was also a soccer star, working to get a scholarship for college and away from her father. But one horrible night changed her entire life. When I learned what that event was, my heart cried out for her and her siblings and the loss of their innocence.

Throughout the years, Nico wants to go to Georgia to not only bring her home but to bring her back to him. But he doesn’t, simply because he knows that it has to be her choice to come back and it has to be on her time, when she was ready. Eventually that time does come. Their life experiences and the years that have gone by have changed them as people. However their connection is just as strong as it ever was and it’s almost as though the last 8 years have done nothing to dim their feelings for one another.

But there is trouble on the horizon that fundamentally changes their lives for quite some time. I really do love the KDP SWAT men and am looking forward to all of their stories and Downy, our favorite red-head is up next!
