About Doug Olsen
Loved by most of his readers, Doug Olsen’s background of many careers and adventures illuminates his writing. In his 80+ years Doug has travelled in Europe and 47 of the continental US states. Traveling the gamut of first class, staying at five-star hotels, to some travels by hitchhiking and sleeping under a boardwalk gave Doug knowledge if how the world really is.
Doug is Chemical Engineer with several patents and has designed several major facilities. He has been a motivational speaker, a bookseller, and for a short time was even a busker, a street musician in Seattle. And more. He knows life and the human condition.
Now Doug Olsen writes from his 5th floor apartment in Quincy, Mass. It overlooks a tidal estuary to the west and the skyline of Boston to the north. His books and short-read, cozy mysteries are set in New England. His contemporary fantasy thrillers are short novels and chronicle the adventures if a clan of people with supernatural powers clandestinely recruited by the president to deliver the USA from intended evil.

Blog postFor us Biddies and Geezers the time has come to realize we ain’t in the summer of our lives any more. But it ain’t winter yet. Sure, there are lots of things we just can not do anymore, or should not do. But this time of our lives was made by God for some very special activities that can only be done in Our Autumn Years.
Take a clue from the leaves of the trees. In the summer they are green and very busy. The leaves produce food for the trees by converting the energy in4 years ago Read more -
Blog postOw! Ow! Ow!
I just hit a brick wall.
These days seniors like us hit many brick walls Some because of health and age issues. Some because of financial problems. The wall I hit was about a relationship.
In my 80+ years of life I have learned much about getting through tough spots. Persistence and prayer usually work. But a brick wall? Butting my head against a brick wall can just get me hurt … not through it. If I keep trying I just get angry and bitter. Not good. I wan4 years ago Read more -
Blog postRats! It’s 2 am and I am wide awake. Again! Oh, I went to bed at 10 pm. Tossed around. Dozed and got up a few times to pee. And now I’m wide awake writing this bit of unwisdom to you, my dear reader.
The day they taught “How to Get to Sleep” at Pandeez school, (I’m a Pandeez, by the way,) I played hooky and was on a date with my friend Myrtle. But that’s for another story. I was wide-awake all that night.
And now I’m Sleepless in Quincy. Like Sleepless in Seattl4 years ago Read more -

Blog post#3 Have Faith
The expression “Sometimes Shit Happens” is true for me today as I write this tip to you on how having faith will tune into God’s program of living well. So I must take my own medicine.
What happened? Doesn’t matter. But it was a strong emotional blow to me with no immediate indication of how I would get through it. It is time for immediate First Aid. My First Aid is to have faith that God loves me and will get me through my trauma and back to Living Well.

Blog postDo Good! That is the most powerful tip for living well. The Universe is wired to shower rewards on you if you do something good for another person … or animal.
Giving money to a charity is nice but not the best way to reap the reward of a blessed life. You, personally doing the good deed is what God loves … and rewards.
Dark anger roils through much of the world today. Anger flows through many people. But if you are alert you will see opportunities for yourself to provide some4 years ago Read more -
Blog postWant to get well? I do. And I have found that the #1 priority to my living well is for me to forgive others. I must forgive people who have hurt me in the past and people who are hurting me now!
I live well not because I “earned it,” but because I accept my wellness as a free blessing from God. But there is one condition. Just as God has forgiven me for my offences against Him, I must forgive every person who has hurt me or is hurting me now. Unconditionally.

Blog postAgain … I’m writing this post from my friend Pam’s apartment. in Providence , Rhode Island. The Big Little. It’s 3 am and I’m having breakfast. An omelet left over from yesterday, reheated in the microwave. OMG it’s fabulous.
Some of you may never had an omelet so great it was still scrumptious heated over the next day.
So … when I realized that … I realized that the LIFE of a person is like an omelet.
Really? Sure! First th4 years ago Read more -
Blog postIt is healthy for Biddies and Geezers like us to … once in a while … get out of our usual surroundings and get some “new” experiences. Gives us “New Life.” As I write this I’m visiting my Biddie friend (let’s call her) Pam in Providences, Rhode Island.
It’s early in the morning and I am up with a cuppa coffee. Pam is still abed and won’t be up until about 10 am. So I have time to contemplate some of the mysteries of life.

Blog postThere’s darkness in this world.
It is not silent,
Not without feelings,
Of Rage and Fear.
It is not a void
But is a globby smear,
That sticks on the skins of souls ,
With an itch they cannot scratch away,
In the darkness.
They need a light.
A single candle will do.
Can you be that candle?
A light of Hope?
A glow of love
With the warm whisper of
Forgiveness?4 years ago Read more

Doug Olsen, who is still a meat-eater reveals the prophesy of the entire world becoming Vegan.
More than ever today, in the blizzard of materialistic media’s commercial cacophony, personal storytelling to the young is vital for the survival of the race. Humor, nonesense, satire, were all part of the stuff that shaped the minds of the young in The little Red Hen, The Cat in the Hat, The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland, and even the Harry Potter stories.
Iggy the Elf and the Islands follows in this tradition. It is best read aloud to young people with gusto and animation. But aduls might also appreciate some of the political fun-making.
But more. It recognizes the essence of love is invisible. It is spirit and is beyond time. Real Love is in the world of forever and ever and has no boundaries.
However, Percy is on the run from the Russian Mafiya for conning them out of $10 million. Only by joining up with Arno Rotar, and the miracles he can perform can they escape assassination before executing the Sanctioned Swindle
