I absolutely swear by Dove, and with good reason. A few years ago I got hit with mid twenties acne in a way that wasn't quite bad enough for a ProActiv commercial, but definitely not something that I could ignore. I tried using Cetaphil and Neutrogena, but while good products, neither of these worked for my particular skin. My grandmother, of all people, told me that Dove bars are really good for your face and that I shouldn't bother with the more expensive face washes when I could get something better for a fraction of the cost. Well, you've got to listen to Grandma. I tried using it, and wow, it really made a huge difference in evening out my skin tone and fighting my acne. I didn't just stop with the Dove bar, even though it was heaven sent. I also started using TreeActiv Anti Acne & Rosacea Treatment Sulfur Mask Plus Rhassoul, Bentonite Clay Mask with Witch Hazel & Aloe Vera - Refreshing Lemon Scent (1 Jar) which really helped with my acne. I've been using it three times a week for the past month alongside my Dove bar, and the improvements are incredible. My skin is clearer and it seems like it's more taut, and I've been having a lot less acne, and even some of the scars from old pimples are going away. Add this to the [[TreeActiv +Tea Tree Oil - link to 60ml]]TreeActiv+ Tea Tree Oil Acne Solution for Advanced Acne Treatment - All Natural Acne Spot Treatment - Blemishes Gone or Your Money Back! I use for spot treatments and moisturizing, and I'm really stepping up my complexion game. I recommend the Dove bar for all of your basic face wash needs, and then add anything with tea tree oil to supplement the bar.

This is our Dove story. I’ve been using Dove on and off my whole life. As a kid my mom would alternate between Ivory and Dove and we never really gave it too much thought. And so as an adult I kind of cycled as well.

Enter babies and of course I used liquid baby soap. Then the babies grew a little and I started getting them random liquid soaps. I have a boy and a girl. My son wanted Ninja Turtle soap, my daughter a princess soap (which smelled gross lol). I bought these things without stopping to think why in the world would they NEED cute bottles of soap. They were not expensive, and that is probably why. My daughter has sensitive skin and mild eczema. For some reason, I kept wondering if strawberries or something in the bread were triggering this. And maybe diet has something to do with it, but I didn’t even consider that random soaps I knew nothing about were perhaps not helping?

Then one day we read a book about a Soap Boat and I was like… hmm – let’s make soap boats! Because I had purchased so many Dove bars, that’s what I used. And the soap boats were in the bathtub (sinking because Dove doesn't float - Ivory does by the way.). And I started using the bar soap to wash the kids. I explained how this is big kid soap and we have to close our eyes when mommy is rinsing and we shouldn’t put our soapy hands in our eyes, and we don’t eat it and so on… And you know what? My daughter’s eczema seems to be a little better. Is it medicine? No. Is it better than random soap? Yes.

And guess who isn’t buying cute bottles of cheap soap anymore?

Isn’t it funny how sometimes we can get distracted by marketing campaigns and just going back to basics to those things that our family has used for years and years is the answer? Eczema runs in my family.

Our baby daughter started suffering from either dermatitis or eczema a year ago - just a red bumpy rash - and unscented Dove was recommended by the pediatrician, pediatric dermatologist, and allergist. Unfortunately, they didn't know the manufacturer had changed the product formula. We really wish they had - it would have saved her a year of terrible itching its new formula caused. We didn't know the Dove doctors have been recommended for years was no longer the same product.

A wild goose chase ensued. A change in her diet to Alimentum resulted in dramatic improvement after a milk allergy was diagnosed. However, small raised red patches and intense itching that caused frantic scratching to the point of bleeding soon became major issues; atypical eczema was diagnosed.

Treatment until just a few days ago had been warm daily baths and unscented Dove, along with hydrocortisone 1% on spots and Cetaphil cream all over. Children's Zyrtec did not seem to alleviate the itching, although it did help her sleep. A visit to a dermatologist and a prescription for Calcitrene did not help either. Only a physical barrier - footed PJs with both zippers and snaps, kept her from picking at her skin constantly.

Quite by accident I used unscented Dove two weeks ago. I suddenly found myself having intense itching as well. Could it be that my daughter was allergic to Dove too? It did make sense as Dove was used directly on her exposed areas, arms and torso, and she had her most intense and frantic itching episodes after her bath. We discontinued Dove immediately and her intense itching subsided overnight.

What I didn't understand why I was suddenly was allergic to the new bars.
