Editorial Reviews

“Can love survive all obstacles? In Dovetail, Karen McQuestion crafts a story spanning generations, one brimming with family secrets between sisters, breathtaking suspense, and the undeniable power of love everlasting. I dare you to put the book down before reaching the triumphant conclusion. I couldn’t.” —Christine Nolfi, bestselling author of The Road She Left Behind

“Nobody writes with such compelling and poignant simplicity as Karen McQuestion, and her latest novel Dovetail could well be the best proof yet. In this wonderfully atmospheric, dual timeline tale, a beautiful love story and a haunting and mysterious, long-ago death, come alive through dreams that carry a message critical to the present, but dreams can often obscure and confuse the truth, leading good people into deeper trouble. I was drawn into this story by the cast of very human characters and the elements of love-inflected mystery and suspense, and kept quickly turning the pages until the very satisfying end. This is storytelling at its finest. Don’t miss it!” —Barbara Taylor Sissel, bestselling author of Faultlines and The Truth We Bury

“Karen McQuestion has crafted an emotionally suspenseful tale that explores the intriguing possibilities of genetic memory. It’s an inspired story—a marvelous, evocative read, the perfect blend of mystery, magic, tragedy, and hope. I absolutely loved it, and I devoured it from start to finish.” USA Today bestselling author Julianne MacLean

“In her latest release Dovetail, Karen McQuestion expertly weaves together the past and present in a suspenseful tapestry of words that will leave the reader intrigued to the last page.” —Kay Bratt, author of Wish Me Home and True to Me

Praise for Karen McQuestion

“A book that reveals the brighter side of human nature in a surprising way. Good Man, Dalton is a sweet confection you’ll savor as Midwesterner Greta Hansen arrives in New York City for a job that doesn’t exist—and discovers something better than money or fame.” —Christine Nolfi, bestselling author of The Road She Left Behind

“I was riveted to the page and on occasion brought to tears. A book you don’t want to miss.” —Barbara Taylor Sissel, bestselling author of Faultlines and The Truth We Bury on Half a Heart

“Karen McQuestion just keeps getting better! Hello Love is an enchanting, impossible-to-put-down novel about big hearts and second chances.” —Claire Cook, USA Today bestselling author of Must Love Dogs

“An emotional and engaging novel about family…” —Delia Ephron on A Scattered Life

“McQuestion writes with a sharp eye and a sure voice, and as a reader, I was willing to go wherever she wanted to take me. After I finished the book, I thought about how I might describe it to a friend, and I settled on…: ‘You should read this. It’s good.’” —Carolyn Parkhurst on A Scattered Life

“The plot is fast paced and easy to dive into, making this a quick and exciting read.” School Library Journal on From a Distant Star

“At first glance Favorite is a story of a girl and her family learning to cope with loss. But at some point it morphs into a psychological thriller. It’s an unexpected but welcome turn that will leave readers on the edge of their seats.” —Jessica Harrison, Cracking the Cover

“This story featuring a strong protagonist who has mastered the art of being the new girl will appeal to girls who are fans of this genre.” School Library Journal on Life on Hold

“I devoured it in one sitting!” New York Times bestselling author Lesley Kagen on Edgewood

“I feel like I’ve been waiting for this book. It’s kind of like all my favorite comic books rolled into one awesome package…I’m hooked!” —The Kindle Book Review on Edgewood

From the Author

This book had been on my mind for quite a while, probably about four years. All along I'd been calling it Dovetail and although bits and pieces were coming to me (like listening to a radio station almost out of range) I waited to start writing until it was more fully formed in my head. After I finished each of my last few books, my younger son would ask, "And now are you going to write Dovetail?"

Every time I said, "Not just yet."

And then one day, it was ready so I sat down with my laptop and got to work.

It's a longer book than I usually write and there are more layers to it. Also, it's different than my other novels, but what else is new? I have trouble staying in my lane, so much so I'm not even sure I have a lane.

Some of my readers have said this is my best book yet. I'm unable to judge my own work, so I don't know if that's true or not. All I know is that I poured my heart and soul into this novel and I hope readers enjoy it.
