Product Description

Dow Corning 732 Multi-Purpose Sealant is a one-component sealant/adhesive that cures at room temperature when exposed to the moisture in the air. When undergoing the acetoxy cure system, the product transforms from a non-sag paste to a tough and flexible rubber that adheres to many substrates. Dow Corning 732 Multi-Purpose Sealant is stable and flexible from -60°C to +180°C (-76°F to +356°F), with short peaks up to +205°C (401°F). Dow Corning 732 Multi-Purpose Sealant has excellent dielectric properties. The product complies with MIL-A-46106 and FDA 177.2600. After 24 hours (at room temperature and 50% relative humidity) Dow Corning 732 Multi-Purpose Sealant will have a cure depth of about 3 mm. Limited atmospheric moisture and lower humidity levels will extend cure time. When stored at 32°C (90°F) the product's shelf life is 900 days from the date of its manufacture.

While curing, the silicone adhesive gives off acetic acid vapor; you know you got the good stuff! The cap (for reuse) actually works well. My previous batch expired 11/2013 but the stuff was like new. There is a huge difference in how hard you have to squeeze, if the tube is cold versus warm.
One example of use:
I was rear-ended and the trunk lid and the mating body was bent so there were big gaps. If I drove the car with the driver window down (fresh-air vent off) the venturi effect of the wind passing by my opened window draws air out and is supplied from the leaking trunk thru the back seat along with exhaust fumes. I removed the back seat, shut the trunk, climbed in pushed the rubber gasket out to properly mate with the trunk-lid then used Dow Corning 732 to adhere it in place... even fill the big gaps with this great stuff. No more exhaust floating past my nose out the window.

I work in appliance repair and Frigidaire sent out some of this rtv with a service a kit. I'll never use any of type. It holds up well and the tubes don't dry out fast like other brands. That cap that comes with these seals it right up. I've used it to seal behind refrigerator door gaskets mostly and around some of the liner trim.

I have used this product for years and years, and I am a BIG fan. I use it for both an adhesive and sealant, and it performs great for both. Some details that I've noticed; I applied this outside on a winters day at about -32 degrees to a dry surface, it came out of the tube easily, skinned over in normal time, and cured to it's regular hardness. Still in place years later! As an RTV sealant, it is impervious to oil, so I always use it for auto/engine repairs, often eliminating the gasket completely. As an adhesive, it gives a real good dependable stick on almost all surfaces (best on non porus like tile, glass and gloss paint), but what I like is that if I have to remove it sometime later, I can. (with some work) I've used this to attach every bathroom mirror (all large) to the walls in my house; with no clips at all (even mirrors to closet doors) It doesn't damage the silvering on the back of the mirror, and it has never let loose yet, It doesn't take paint very well (latex not at all). and I've found that it doesn't like some liquids like gasoline and some solvents like brake cleaners. While not perfect for everything, this is certainly my GO TO product for most things that I have to do.

Works as described. It has only been one month since I used the product but I expect it will perform well based on being made by Dow Corning. Better than similar products you could find at the local home improvement center.

Great product for my task to fix a seam leak on PVC skylights in my sunroom. My research on finding a suitable and lasting sealant leads me to believe DOW is better than GE for my particular application on PVCs.
