Written from dual perspectives, we initially meet Camille and Heath during high school where we get to see the incident that lead to throwing them directly into each others paths after just being passer by’s, especially Camille to Heath. Getting the incident right from the start really allowed the reader to understand the initial feelings from the characters, despite their intense attraction to each other, and fully appreciate how things played out over the course of the book. Camille is a strong, independent, single parent with a passion to achieve her dream job but what I personally loved with Camille was even though she is a single mom, it is clearly implied she had a good mature relationship with her daughter’s father, something that isn’t often seen in single parent romances. Heath, in contrast, starts off as a football star leading a typical sports star’s fun lifestyle but shows there may be more to his character than what people see on the surface, especially with his Grandfather. It’s fun to watch how Heath quickly recognises there may be more fun to have with the challenges Camille throws his way with their wicked chemistry that clearly stems from her crush on him during high school. When paired together, Camille and Heath were well matched, especially with Camille being strong enough at times in standing up to Heath, and both characters pushing each other outside of their normal boundaries. There was plenty of fun, sexy moments as Camille and Heath explore the chemistry between them and I especially loved Emma, Camille’s 7 going 8 year old daughter and her interactions with both characters. Pirates definitely got sexy!
Down Deep is a well written, fun, sexy, light hearted sports romance with a great fast then steady pace. The book, in terms of sports, is relatively light and focuses more on the relationship element between the two characters but there is some to satisfy those after that aspect. I can’t comment on the accuracy of the sports details as I’m not an NFL follower, but regardless of understanding you can follow along. This can be read as a standalone as there is a HEA for Camille and Heath.
If you are a fan of Sports romances like I am, I would definitely recommend you give this story a try!

Camille had the biggest crush on Heath back in highschool when he saw her as a nobody tomboy. She thought when she was assigned to photograph him in the NFL 10 years later that he wouldn't remember her. Heath couldn't forget those eyes or her spunk.
Camille was a divorced, single mom. She was hanging up her hat having anything to do with a professional athlete again. Heath had football as his number one priority. He lived being with woman, but they'd always take a backseat to his profession.
"Sometimes Camille wondered if she were broken, when she lay alone in bed, wondering how she ended up almost 30 and single with a young daughter. The Camille who’d been so set on snapping photos at that football game in high school had had bigger dreams for herself; the Camille now had taken the lemons she’d been handed and made the best lemonade she could. Camille could never regret Emma: her daughter was the light of her life and gave her more joy than she thought possible. But that didn’t stop her from wishing she’d waited to have kids, wishing she’d made Rich wear that condom, wishing that her life had gone a little differently than it had."
“This isn’t a game to me. But whatever it is, I’m gonna win it, just the same. And so are you....
He’d let Camille get away from him more than once, but he wasn’t going to do it again. He was a player, damn it, and that’s exactly what he was going to do. Play the hardest game of his life, for the greatest prize."
The only thing Camille Pollart ever wanted to be was a sports photographer. When a certain football player on high school tried to give her some advice one night it turned her world upside down. But Camille never let go of her dreams even during college when she meets her hockey husband (ex) and have a bright daughter she never let her dream go.
But when she meets that one football player again can she let him push his way into her life and maybe looks her dream. Heath can't get Camille out of his mind after seeing her after all those years and we all know girls have that little thing in the back of there heart called strings that pull on them when they know things should be they always wanted them. To be with your first love !
Can Heath and Camille get over all of the past memories that seem to shadow over them or will on little whistle mean the world to them !
LOVED the pulls and pushes of this story !! The HEART know what the HEART wants !!
