Down in New Orleans by Heather Graham is a great romantic suspense novel. Once you start this book, you will not want to put it down until you reach the last page.

Ann Marcel has a close relationship with her ex-husband, Jon, and when he finds himself in trouble, lying in a hospital bed in a coma under the suspicions of murder, Ann takes it upon herself to prove his innocence. She finds herself close to the annoyingly handsome detective, Mark Lacrosse, who practically has Jon hung for the murder without any real evidence. Can Ann find the evidence to prove Jon's innocence and convince Mark that Jon did not do it?

This novel grips the reader from the very first page and refuses to let the reader put the book down until they are finished. The imaginative details help the read to feel as if they are right there alongside Ann trying to prove Jon's innocence. This is a must read for any romantic suspense fan.

Heather Graham quickly became my favorite writer. Her stories read so smoothly and all the words she uses run together seamlessly. Her books are always captivating, interesting, suspenseful and keep you drawn in. And this book holds true. I have not found a book by Heather Graham yet that I did not enjoy.

Good story and plot. I gave three stars because I have read numerous Heather Graham books and just couldn't hear her voice.

"anger was passion"

I could not of been more pleased by this book!
As soon as i started i was hooked, i am not joking - when i finished reading the first page i knew i would have to know everything. I didn't have as much time to read this book non-stop as i would normally do but every time i had to stop reading i was thinking about it & rushing to read it again.
I was describing this book to a friend while i was reading it, this is what i said; suspense, drama, mystery and sex. What more can you ask for? The book got more exciting as i read, so many twists and turns along the way. I found myself shouting at the characters, like i do when i watch i thriller movie :) "Runnn!" Was the thing i shouted the most.
The chemistry between the couple, wow! The author gave amazing descriptions of all characters and situations, i felt like i was right there in the scene with them most of the time. The sex scenes where hot, i want so badly to get stuck in a cabin with Mark :)
Read this quote for an idea of the passion between them -
"Then he was swearing, his fingers on the silk panties she wore.
She felt the rip. She opened her mouth to protest. But it didn't matter."
The ending, i never saw it coming.. i wanted to jump up & down with excitement when i read it. It was so awesome! The couple also got their HAE so it was a brilliant wrap up overall.

I would recommend this book and I like to read more by this author

But then WOW! Just when I was ready to put the book down it kicked into gear and kept me reading until the end. The characters were so well defined and full of personality and individualism. Great read once you got past the slow start!

"Old Billy," New Orleans clubs and night life, fog, eerie voodoo. This book features romance, intrigue, Cajun and creole life, etc. It is a story of an exwife struggling to save her husband from prison while falling in love again. The name Heather Graham automatically means you will have a great read. I loved it.

My rating:4 of 5 stars
This book was originally published back in 1996, I believe. This is a digital copy provided to me by Open Road Media and Netgalley. The book has been re-issued and updated in e-book format and is available through Open Road Media and anywhere e-books are sold. Heather Graham has been writing novels for many years. She is the author of historical romances and paranormal romances, as well as romantic suspense. This book is a romantic suspense novel with a touch of the paranormal. This month Heather Graham has been giving us 31 reasons why she loves New Orleans. This book lines up nice with her blogs and facebook posts. Jon and Ann are still best friends even though they are divorced. Both are artist and recently Jon has been doing drawings of a high class group of strippers at an infamous Jazz club. He meets and falls in love with Gina, but then both Jon and Gina are stabbed. Gina dies, and Jon is in a coma, accused of Gina's murder.Ann doesn't believe for a minute that Jon killed Gina. She is determined to find out the truth. This puts her in direct opposition to the two detectives working the case.Mark is sure that Jon is guilty. All the evidence points to him. But, he is immediately impressed with Ann and her determination to see her ex-husband exonerated. For some reason, Mark just can't shake the impression that Ann is in danger. He also can't shake his intense attraction to her. As Ann digs into the jazz club's other workers, the musicians, managers and strippers, she uncovers a link to voodoo rituals, another murder and more questions than answers.I enjoyed the atmosphere in this one and confess to missing Heather Graham's romantic suspense novels. New Orleans is one of my favorite destinations and I love it when a book is set in this location.
