Great Art and exciting story
Extraordinary illustrations. The composition, design and color are great. It makes it all exciting and very professional. I'm not a big fan of rhyming books but this was actually very fun to read as an adult. It surely is a great collection to have as a paperback too. The kids had lots of fun, the story incited their imagination and discussion. I love a great children's book with a lot of improbable and surreal adventures.

    Recently I've been on this nostalgic kick and Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee was always my absolute favorite book as a kid! I loved the silly rhymes, the colorful pictures, and the wild adventure Mr. Magee and Dee went on with the whale. The entire idea isn't like SpongeBob or other shows but the surprise of them flying into the sky always made me laugh, and I loved how they got rescued. It's such a fun, imaginative story, that is just the right amount of fun!

The words and rhymes are carefully chosen and very lyrical and the illustrations are masterfully done. We have given this book to other parents/kids who love this book as well.     I came across this author and can't get enough of the books that he's written. I have two toddlers and they love every story that we have read by Chris Van Dusen. The illustrations are amazing; and there is so much detail we love to look through the pages to see what we have missed from a previous reading.

    Mr. Magee and his dog Dee decide to take a boat trip; they wake up early pack a lunch but when they see a pod of whales, they are in for quite a surprise on what they thought was going to be a peaceful day.

    If you have young children I would HIGHLY recommend this book and anything that he has written. I'm already planning out who I can give this book to for future birthdays and baby showers.
