P.S. Down Under knives is soon coming out with the Walkabout bowie knife which is now the closest knife I've seen to the iconic Dundee bowie knife. :) Definitely going to be purchasing that one once its available as well!
The only thing that got me was the sheath.
When i put the sheath on my side and went to pull out the knife it broke the rivets on the belt strap, so i used my heavyduty staple gun to fix it, then when i tried to pull out the sharpening rod the leather string broke, so i replaced it with paracord.
Over all this is a bad ass knife, it really is.
First impression its just the right size and weight
It is very shiny and the steel is very hard.
It seems well built but it dosent seem like the knife i would want to throw around and abuse
Out of the boxAnd then there is the sheath which doesn't seem to fit the knife it looks and feels cheap i will make my own soon as a can
The knife is awsome though
The care instructions recommend soaking the handle in vegetable oil for 24hours. After doing so I went and took all my knives with leather stacked handles and soaked them as well. The results were very pleasing.
I saw something on Youtube that stated these Down Under Knives were made by Linder. With a little research I found that many Linder dealers carried Down Under Knives as well. I wouldn't be suprised, my Linder and Muela knives are the only ones that I can compare this to, quality wise.
I could almost relate this to a Western W49 Bowie, because like the W49 it's solid and handles well and can cleave anything you throw at it.
I caught He|| from my wife for buying this but it was so worth it.
This will not disappoint!
