"The Downside of Being Up" is a really well written book and extremely hilarious. The author (Alan Sitomer) has written a book that teenage boys can totally relate to, and can be engaged in from start to finish. I highly reccommend it to any teen who wants a hilarious tale of a teenager trying to survive middle school and adolescence. Three words: Correctional Erectional Therapy. And that's just some of the humor a reader can expect from the 13-year old main character. Mr. Sitomer has just the best writing style that keeps you interested and wanting to keep going in the story. He also writes for a teenager in a way you know he's not talking "down" to you--he's making the story in a way that makes you see the humor in what could be a really awkward time in a boys' life. I hope there are more of these stories to come!

I bought this book to share with my 14 year old son. I really like Sitomer and I was hoping this would be a vehicle to open conversation between my son and I.

I was a bit disappointed that the voice of the protagonist in the story is much younger sounding that even 12-14. He's in middle school but comes across as a 6th grader at best. 11 years old tops. For any boy slightly older or mature than that it's not going to speak to him. Also, while Sitomer approaches this topic bravely and cleverly, there's a lot missing in my opinion... like what boys might do when they are "up" and when, why, where that might be appropriate...

I don't think there's anything else on the market like this, so hats off to Sitomer for writing the book and getting it started... I hope someone picks pu where he left off

i couldn't stop laughing while reading this book. i thought it really captures what being a boy is like every during adolescence. i think it helps with the penis problem and letting a guy know it happens to everyone and they are not alone. i read this book twine and probably going to read like 7 more times. this book was like watching the most funniest show you have every watched in your life but in a book form. i would recommend this book to any guy who is confused about the process of erection and this will give them more clarity in an enjoyable way. after this book i am definitely an Alan Lawrence Sitomer fan!!!
