After seeing this size, I would have preferred the next size smaller than seven inches. What might work for me better is the 5x3 inches. For now, I will be happy using this but probably will purchase another one in the future.
Update April 20, 2014: Just purchased the Camp Chef Explorer and SG60 Griddle and I was motivated to modify this spatula. So what I did was to wrap around the handle a rubber strip cut from the interior tube of my daughter's bicycle wheel and now there is no loose handle plus a better sticky rubber grip. Also, using the workshop knife sharpener, I bevel the or sharpen the edges a bit on its three sides to make it slide easily under the food I am scooping. Wow, I am loving this fully customized spatula. Hence, I added one more star on my review.
Now, I am thinking of buying the bigger 16x4 inches spatula just to add to my grill tools collection and probably do the same mod.
i kept breaking salmon and flounder filets while cooking in a cast iron skillet. cooking with cast iron is the easiest. you spray a thin filet and turn it on a skillet on low and just walk away for a while. but flipping it is hard with plastic or hard rubber spatula ends. they grab the flesh and break it apart. this thin metal one gets underneath it, and stretches a good distance along a filet of fish. i will get a better one later, but in a pinch this one works just fine. maybe next year we can spend the money on a commercial grade; but for now, this one works quite well. for the price, i get to practice until i can afford a really good one. but today i made marinaded salmon fillets with a 3-quart cast skillet. cooked for a while, and slid the blade underneath. they came right up, not breaking the skin. that deserves five stars for an item of this price range.
Also, the rivets are obviously not stainless steel, they usually aren't. I'd be impressed if they were brass, but who puts wood handled cutlery in the dishwasher anyway? Might as well put the cast iron pan in with it. Come on folks, use a little common sense. If an item's description does not tell you something, expect the worst case scenario. These rivets are obviously regular steel and it rusts if you let it sit in water. Just hand wash and put a little vegetable oil on the handle to keep it from drying out and this should last a long time.
This is a heavy duty spatula and should be used for large objects. The grill is perfect or even a large frying pan in the kitchen. If you want for flipping eggs, this is not really what you want as it is large and the metal is thick. Some people have complained about edges, but a little sand paper, a file, a grinder or even an electric knife sharpener will easily allow you to personalize this spatula in a few minutes.
For stainless steel, with a full tang, a wooden handle and three, yes three, rivets and two day delivery, what do you have to lose. It's Amazon guys.
Update: This one works fine in the kitchen. The balance is not an issue there. I just don't use it outdoors on the griddles.
So, the upgrade from three to five stars.

the edge on this spatuala will hardly cut through anythingPublished 12 hours ago by Amazon Customer
Arrived in not so great condition.
Feels like the rivets or whatever holds the handle together are loose.
This is an excellent spatula, just the right stiffness and size. All it needed was some sharpened edges which was no problem.Published 18 days ago by Trout Fisher
