Dr.Catsby's food bowl for cats
Does your cat suffer from whisker fatigue?
Does your cat display behaviors such as leaving food behind, not finishing his meal, loss of interests in food, or pawing food out of the bowl to eat on the floor? If so, he/she might be suffering from Whisker Fatigue. Sometimes these eating related problems even manifest themselves as aggression towards other pets or furniture.
The original whisker fatigue prevention
A cat's whiskers are ultra sensitive. When they are forced against the sidewalls of a traditional feeding bowl, it can cause discomfort and even pain. Dr. Catsby's food bowl is a wide and shallow dish, with no sidewalls and corners. Cats don't have to pull back their whiskers to avoid agonizing contacts, creating a much more enjoyable dining experience. Many of our customers reported improved eating habits from their cats. Check out what our customers have to say in reviews and comments
Stress free eating
Relaxed whiskers make a happier cat. Dr. Catsby's food bowl is a wide and shallow dish, with no sidewalls and corners. Cats don't have to pull back their whiskers to avoid unwanted or agonizing contacts, creating a much more enjoyable dining experience. The dish shape also keeps food in the center (in most cases) and is sized to hold one day's ideal portion to prevent over feeding.
Does your cat suffer from acne on the chin that won't go away? Maybe the cause is in the bowl. You see, with a traditional deeper feeding bowl, it's easy for him/her to rub the chip on the bowl and food. An unclean chin makes it easier for acne to develop. Dr. Catsby's shallow wide dish design can keep the chin clean during eating. This surprise benefit was observed by several of our customers' and our own cats.
Not all materials are created equals. We use food-grade premium stainless steel because that is what we use for ourselves, period. Cheaper materials like plastics are porous, which can cause bacteria growth and risk acne for your cats. Plastics also pose multiple severe health risks as food containers. They also cause negative environmental effects. PLEASE SAY NO TO PLASTICS when it comes to feeding your cats!
Detachable anti skid silicone base
We use a food grade silicone base to hold the bowl in place. This also marks out a feeding territory for your cat. It is detachable for easy cleaning.
Food-grade premium stainless steel is not only durable and good looking, but is also easy to clean and maintain. Just throw it into the dishwasher or rinse regularly with warm water. (Please rinse it thoroughly before the first use)
How to choose?
There are many options on the market that claim the same benefit. How do you choose? Dr. Catsby is the first to bring an awareness and a solution to this issue in 2015, Since then, we are happy to see our cause gaining traction. Unfortunately our design and marketing approach have inspired quite a few copycats with cheaper materials and qualities. However, we believe when it comes to originality, quality and care, there are no substitutes. Your cats deserve only the best.

TL;DR │ Excellent product. This is a solid and heavy brushed stainless steel bowl. I personally think the price is justified.

Recently, my cat started to be more picky and more cat-like. I then noticed that her food mat is getting dirtier and dirtier. I did consider getting a raised food bowl as that might be a reason. I never really look at her when she eats (who wants to be stared at when eating?), but when I did, I saw her pick food with her mouth and drop some of them on her mat and eat it there. So after some reading, I figured it must be her whiskers. She's a British Shorthair, and she is a short-nosed breed.
The solution? A shallow food bowl for kitties. And this is why I bought this product. It's the only product that I liked which I could get the following day.
WHAT I LIKE │ + │
+ Shallow bowl is shallow.
+ Minimalist design that doesn't really look cheap.
+ Solid heavy brushed steel even though it's hollow.
+ Groove (cutout/hole) on the side for easy hooman pick up.
+ Black rubber mat included.
+ BONUS: Company currently sells only this item. I see it as a good thing.
+ BONUS: Free one-day shipping for Prime (Seattle Metro area).
WHAT I DON'T LIKE │ × │
× I wish it were a little bit raised (more height).
× Not cheap for cheap people.
PACKAGE │ ✓ ✗ │
✓ A very simple blue box with clear tapes to "seal" it.

✗ NO garbage.
- Inner diameter is a little over 6 inches.
- Outer diameter is a little under 7 inches.
- Height approximately 1 ¼ inch.
- Inner height from lip level to bottom center should be around 1 inch.

This review is for the Dr. Catsby's Food Bowl for Whisker Relief .
I’ve got bowls of all shapes and sizes out the whazzoo. Think I’m exaggerating about the china cabinet, then talk to my husband. He’ll give you an earful about cat dishes. Still though, Moon is having issues, so I did some research and decided to try the Catsby bowl.
I do not use plastic. I won’t eat from plastic for many reasons, and I won’t subject the cats to plastic, which just becomes disgusting over time. I prefer glass, ceramic, and stainless steel for their water and food dishes. The Catsby bowl is stainless; it’s shallow, and it has a nice rubber pad to sit on with a convenient thumb hole so you can lift it off the rubber pad. You don't want moisture collecting on the pad, so it's nice that you leave it in place and only wash the dish.
I wasn’t sure at first because it is so shallow, and I expected food everywhere. Or that they would hate it, so I left the new bowl out along side their old bowls to see which they preferred. At the end of the test days, the new bowl was always empty and the other was not. There was no food on the floor either.
I was skeptical about the whole whisker fatigue thing, but since Moon is easily overstimulated being as neurotic as he is, it might be true at least for him. At the end of the day though, they seem to like the bowls and if eating is more comfortable for them, especially with Rupert’s FIV teeth too, then so be it. They are expensive so I’ll only be buying two, but they are easy to clean and I can’t break them if I drop them, which happens often, which also means I probably won’t need replacements on hand.
My only word of advice is that it says it can hold 1.5 cups of dry food. 1.5 cups of food is too much food for a cat and for the bowl. You’ll wind up with food on the floor because the bowl is very shallow, but I think it might be a win for me, and my husband will be happy to get rid of the cat china cabinet.

With straight sided bowls, wet food often went uneaten around the edge, leading to waste. I can see in their body language that my cats are more comfortable not having their whiskers bumping on the dish to eat. They no longer knock kibbles out onto the floor to eat them. I would have bought 4 instead of 2 bowls if the price had been a bit lower, but otherwise we are all happy.
The bowl is round and fairly steep to keep the food in the centre. Koda went to it right away and I haven't seen him eat at such an ease since he was a kitten.
The design is beautiful, modern and thoughtful. There is a cutout in the stainless steel for you to pick it up with ease with one hand, without slip. The black nonslip pad is removable and not needed of your cat doesn't move their bowl around or if you have your bowl on a nonslip pad already.
Koda is used to eating out of the side of the bowl, and pawing the rest. He has the habit of eating from the side, but I am sure he will cut that out when he realizes he doesn't need to.
Overall, worth the cost and I would recommend to anyone with a cat with long whiskers.
