This bowl was originally created for cats that experience whisker fatigue but testing revealed that nearly all cats preferred it over competitor products in a side by side test. The perfect shape for this bowl was discovered after taking the measurements of many cats' whiskers and faces and allows comfortable and stress-free feeding. Whiskers will not come into contact with any harsh angles and the food is kept in the center because of the perfect curvature. This is especially important with cats because they all have a blind spot beneath their nose so when they can smell the food it will be exactly where they expect it to be instead of getting caught in sharp corners of high-sided bowls. The bowl is made of stainless steel to not only combat feline acne but to also perform well for cats that are fed raw diets. A finger hole in the side of the bowl allows easy pick-up and drop-off, and a food grade silicone rubber non-slip mat snugly holds the bowl in place. After a few days your cat will get used to the design and learn to rely on it as a utensil.

TL;DR │ Excellent product. This is a solid and heavy brushed stainless steel bowl. I personally think the price is justified.

Recently, my cat started to be more picky and more cat-like. I then noticed that her food mat is getting dirtier and dirtier. I did consider getting a raised food bowl as that might be a reason. I never really look at her when she eats (who wants to be stared at when eating?), but when I did, I saw her pick food with her mouth and drop some of them on her mat and eat it there. So after some reading, I figured it must be her whiskers. She's a British Shorthair, and she is a short-nosed breed.
The solution? A shallow food bowl for kitties. And this is why I bought this product. It's the only product that I liked which I could get the following day.
WHAT I LIKE │ + │

× Not cheap for cheap people.

I’ve got bowls of all shapes and sizes out the whazzoo. Think I’m exaggerating about the china cabinet, then talk to my husband. He’ll give you an earful about cat dishes. Still though, Moon is having issues, so I did some research and decided to try the Catsby bowl.
I do not use plastic. I won’t eat from plastic for many reasons, and I won’t subject the cats to plastic, which just becomes disgusting over time. I prefer glass, ceramic, and stainless steel for their water and food dishes. The Catsby bowl is stainless; it’s shallow, and it has a nice rubber pad to sit on with a convenient thumb hole so you can lift it off the rubber pad. You don't want moisture collecting on the pad, so it's nice that you leave it in place and only wash the dish.
I wasn’t sure at first because it is so shallow, and I expected food everywhere. Or that they would hate it, so I left the new bowl out along side their old bowls to see which they preferred. At the end of the test days, the new bowl was always empty and the other was not. There was no food on the floor either.
I was skeptical about the whole whisker fatigue thing, but since Moon is easily overstimulated being as neurotic as he is, it might be true at least for him. At the end of the day though, they seem to like the bowls and if eating is more comfortable for them, especially with Rupert’s FIV teeth too, then so be it. They are expensive so I’ll only be buying two, but they are easy to clean and I can’t break them if I drop them, which happens often, which also means I probably won’t need replacements on hand.
My only word of advice is that it says it can hold 1.5 cups of dry food. 1.5 cups of food is too much food for a cat and for the bowl. You’ll wind up with food on the floor because the bowl is very shallow, but I think it might be a win for me, and my husband will be happy to get rid of the cat china cabinet.
The past year or so my cat has been leaving his food till after I go to bed, when he's sure nothing else will be served, which for him is pretty unusual. Thinking it was the "I can see the bottom of the bowl so it must be empty" problem I would just shake the bowl till some was in the middle again. He gets wet food for dinner, so I've been dumping his uneaten dry food onto a plate so I can use the old bowl for his dinner, but then I noticed he would try to eat the food off the plate happily, though it was hard for him to get all the scattered bits.
I got this bowl thinking a curve would help keep all the food in one spot so he could get to it easier, but now I'm thinking the whisker thing might have actually affected him, since he's gone back to his old 'hungry hippo' eating habits with this new bowl. Wet food is now on a plate and dry in his Catsby bowl, we're retiring the smaller deeper bowl he'd had since kittenhood and sticking to shallow and wide!
