Vegan high-shine synthetic material offers a premium and subtle two tone finish. this unisex shoe is a doc martens through and through, with grooved sides, yellow stitching and our iconic air-cushioned sole, that's oil and fat resistant with good abrasion and slip resistance.
Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

I've owned 2 pairs of the 1460 Vegan boots, and this is the first pair I've had that completely come apart.
First boot started to come apart, and I was like no big deal, I'll fix'em, but then I noticed it happening to the other one.
Just looking at the boots, they still look new, it hasn't even been 6 months. Very disappointed in this pair. Clearly a manufacture defect.
I'm not saying I'll never but them again, but perhaps next I'll just got to a retail location like I've done in the past and inspect them prior to purchasing.
original review: PERFECT! i got a size 7, they fit great! I'm happy with my purchase. Definitely worth the buy. Vegan boots, no animals were harmed & they make every outfit look great, it's the best of both worlds!
Edit: (06-05-19) Not even a year and a half later did these boots last. Under normal use and wear the back of one of the boots has completely torn. The sole of the shoe is falling off and the seam is torn. Docs are supposed to last longer than a year and a half! Quite unsatisfied with this occurrence.

The only problem I have is that they make my feet sweat and the boots started to smell after just one day wearing these to work. Day 2 I fitted an anti-odour insole but even that's struggling. I've now had to clean them out with a spray. By comparison I've worn my Pascal DMs for months all day at the office and they don't smell sweaty at all.
So if you're a Vegan and want DMs, these are your only option, but the 'Pleather' has none of the natural breathing or insulating properties of real leather. I wouldn't buy these again.
On the other hand, I’ve worn these boots constantly for 4 months for everything from 3 hour dog walks to going out clubbing (they’re not heavy and they go great with all my outfits). I’ve managed to keep them as good as new by washing off mud and dirt with a damp cloth and then brushing on a layer of regular black shoe polish (I only bother with one layer as the polish just sits on top and gets knocked off easily).
I found that the yellow stitching around the bottom (which I love) can fade if it gets muddy or if you polish over it.
If this happens you can restore it by squirting a bit of washing up liquid on an old toothbrush and giving it a scrub all the way round.
In terms of the fit, I have quite narrow feet but these boots are quite a wide fit. I get on fine with these boots that are the same size as all my other shoes but I’ll usually have to wear 2 pairs of socks.
I would recommend these boots without hesitation; In my opinion the price is easily justifiable because of the smart look and durability.
I’m pretty confident that I’m not going to need another pair of boots for a very long time.
Other than that, they look and feel just like a classic pair of Docs. The tag is a different colour from the original, but you wouldn't know otherwise. I am told they were comfortable from the get go and didn't need breaking in at all. So, I am happy to give them a full 5 stars even though the sizes are very slightly off.
My biggest complaint is how mine was poorly made in terms of the back of the shoe.As seen in the photo one of the shoe had extra material that was suppose to be shorter like the other shoe.(by the root of the yellow tag)They should be more careful during the production in the future as this should not have happened.I ended up having to cut it myself which made it better but it is obvious they we're different as it appeared lighter in colour .Mine also came with slight marks /scratches.. though was expected.
I ordered a size 6 and it fits pretty well other than the heel area which for me was a bit loose but thick socks solved the problem.Would recommend trying out the leather ones for sizing in shops before order.
Pros: lighter, softer than leather, vegan, fits well for me,aesthetically pleasing
Con:marks/scratches, material is quite thin (might reduce durability & didn't feel like it was really worth the price ),overall quality could be improved.
May purchase again if they could improve the faux leather material and fix the overall quality.
They don't look "exactly" the same as the leather ones, but I've had comments from people like "oh, I thought you were vegan - then why are you wearing leather boots then, hypocrite!" and they always comment afterwards that they couldn't tell the difference, and were mightily impressed.
I think the last pair lasted me something like 4 or 5 years, so hopefully I'll get the same life out of these bad boys.
Update 02/11/2019 Just worn them out in the rain and discovered they let in the water. This is not what I would expect from Dr Marten or any well made shoe. Disappointed.
Reasonably good support and comfortable after the wearing in phase, but took longer than my previous boots to wear in, blistering my heels and ankles for the first few months. Lasted reasonable amount of time, had them 2.5 years and now the stitching has gone allowing the sole to come away. How ever they did get a lot of wear in this time so that’s fair.
All in I’ll go back to veggieboots.
