The buckles are adjustable, so you can customize them a bit.
Also, these boots are awesome for getting around during a zombie apocalypse. Just ask Carol on The Walking Dead.
Fit is a bit large, especially around the ankle and calf. Boot will definitely accommodate jeans being tucked in - even boot cut. I would suggest ordering down a size if you are in between sizes (no half sizes). I wear a 5-5 1/2 and these are a bit big on me, but nothing too concerning, especially because there isn't a smaller size available (UK 3 is a US 5 - 5 1/2)
I wasn't sure if these boots would be too "hardcore" for my petite frame and style but they give just enough edge with out looking costume-y. Perfect for winter rides on the Harley as well as walking around town. They hit just below my knee (I'm just 5ft tall) and are a bit slouchy.
I've been contemplating these boots for a few months now, and am glad I got them! I like that they are Dr. Martens but don't have the typical "doc" look and still offer all that you would want in a riding boot.
Love these shoes and can't wait to wear them!
I'm a goth chick from way back, and when my childhood sweetheart proposed, we knew Halloween was just the right date.
I wanted a beautiful black gown and Doc Martens, and that's just what I got.
I danced the night away on bouncing soles.
These have been the most worn wedding shoes in history. I wore them under my wedding dress and now I wear them with everything else. They're great over skinny jeans, with a girly dress, my Tank Girl cosplay, or most recently to a Slayer concert.
I've worn Docs all my life. They run big as UK sizes are different. They have to be broken in, but after that they become a part of you. You should oil them regularly, mink oil OR Doc Marten leather conditioner.
My husband has four pair in different styles, and I've had the same 12 eye pair for 25 years. If you take care of them, they'll last forever.
If your foot swims in them a bit, get a thin insole and you'll be just fine.
Buying shoes online is tricky, but these have zippers and adjustable straps, so they will fit just about any calf. If they're a bit snug, rub in some leather conditioner and wear them around the house until they wear in. They're leather, they'll stretch.
Also, have whatever the hell kind of wedding you want.
Thus far I've been completely delighted with the fit. The UK8 (US10 womens) works just fine for me. I have average width feet, and narrow heels, along with athletic / large calves (minimum 18" circumference). Typically I have a difficult time finding boots that will work for my larger calves, and these boots managed to work just fine. The only buckle I had to adjust was the very top one, putting this on the absolute loosest setting.
The tongue of the boot is sewn to the rest of the boot shaft, but only on the side with the buckles. The stitching starts at the top and ends just below the top buckle strap. For those of us with large calves, this can be a big deal, as this might dictate in part how comfortable or uncomfortable the boot might be.
Some reviewers have noted that the boot gaps a bit in different spots. The fact that the tongue of the boot is not sewn all the way down is likely why this occurs. I found that if I simply pulled up the tongue of the boot, this would smooth the look out again.Read more ›
