Comfort 9 on 10: Extremely comfortable both in terms of roominess (feels like a sandal, does not feel snug on the foot, but loosely secure) and in terms of cushioning (not like a running shoe, but much softer than hard clogs). While generally very supple and stable feeling, occasionally it can rotate a little on the long axis if you step on a rock or stick.
Performance 10 on 10: It provides the lift & height with its platform heel, without sacrificing stability, comfort or foot & bone health. It covers the toes, but still provides an airy roominess that allows it to work well for hot weather, or with black socks for colder. The buckle and buckle rivets feel robust and is unlikely to accidentally pop open or pull with the strap.
Aesthetics 7 on 10: I liked them so much, I am now wearing them to the office. While they are on the casual end of business casual, their comfort justifies it. I will dock it for the mixed texture between the matt finish rubbery / soft-plastic type material, and the high-shine textured-vinyl strap - it is this strap that takes the overall feel of the shoe down a notch because it cheapens it with this odd material mix. The buckle may be attempting to be high design - there is a metal peg that sticks up, and the metal rectangle buckle with a notch slides (counter intuitively) along the strap to hold the peg in place after you've put the peg through one of the holes. The strap doesn't have any flex, but I'm ok with leaving it on a hole that's a touch loose so that I can slip on and off the shoe without having to mess with the buckle and strap. Those who decide to work the buckle each time may either find themselves annoyed or in touch with the Paris fashion ramp where this kind of novelty may have been the rage at some point. ''
Were I a PM at Scholl's, I'd tell the designer to substitute with a cheaper, standard buckle, since I don't think it adds value, and instead maybe find a more matt finish material for the strap and maybe add a little elastic or flex to the back for slip-on slip-off.
Overall, there is no other shoe like this on the market that provides some extra height, but a comfortable platform that can be used to walk 6 miles a day super comfortably. Great shoe. I will buy it again.
This is the 2nd Dr. Scholl's clog that I have ordered from Amazon (the first didn't have the back strap - love it too!). They both are great buys, and I would recommend anyone to purchase these shoes.
