This is a recording of the actual 1966 television special. I bought it several years ago for my son and he loves it. It is a staple in the car. We don't always wait for Christmas to listen to how "the Grinch's heart grew two sizes that day". Listening to it rather than watching is an entirely different experience for the imagination. I highly recommend.

Wish there were audio versions of other specials available in this format!

This is classic Grinch in the sense that everything on this vinyl was pulled from the original TV special, itself now a classic. Most, but not all, of the dialogue is present, but many of the sound effects are not. The music, the main reason I got this vinyl in the first place, is all there. For anyone who's seen the special or even read the book, it will be easy to follow along. For someone who's never encountered the Grinch before (I've never met someone like this but I'm sure they exist), without the sound effects - and obviously without the visuals - much will be missing and the experience will feel decidedly lacking.
You could also, I suppose, use the vinyl to narrate the book; this might appeal to children.
Overall, a great buy for Grinch fans.
