About Dr. Terry L. Weems
Dr. Terry L. Weems, a native of Laurel, MS, is one of twelve children, who grew up through all of the typical stereotypical challenges he could face in a small, southern city. Dedicating his life to Christ at an early age, Pastor Weems began serving in ministry under his late father-in-law Bishop Willie E. Hines. Retiring early from a lucrative career with Flagstar (Hardee's), he has risen as a strong Christian leader, founding three churches, a theology school, a multi-faceted nonprofit, and overseeing a fellowship of pastors and ministry leaders. Married to Sherry W. Hines Weems, they are parents of two sons, T.J. (Destinie) and the late J.T. (2003-2003) who graced this side of glory for 27 days before going to be with the Lord. Terry is a community leader, businessman, mentor and author who travels frequently, preaching and teaching the Word of God with excitement and destiny, giving a life-inspiring Word with a realization that you have "One Life to Live". www.TerryLWeems.com, 212 Eagle Day Avenue, Columbia, MS 39429, 800-394-LIFE (5433)

Unique Challenges of African American Pastors
Nov 22, 2017
$9.99
It is indisputable that there are different cultures and what we term as “races” of people in our country and abroad. It is undeniable that different churches have various focuses or ministry emphases. This book poses and addresses the question as to whether there are different challenges that are faced by African American pastors. Unique Challenges of African American Pastors seeks to answer those questions and to highlight such challenges. There will be an in-depth view of those who are particularly in the South contrasted to pastors in different settings.
The book begins with the history of how the African American church began in the South and follows its development, pausing along the way to examine key issues that still impact the African American church and its pastor in our modern times. The book also includes references, survey information, interviews, and other relevant resources and research gathered by Dr. Terry L. Weems in his pursuit to determine the variance between those pastoring white congregations in comparison to African American congregations. There are recommendations given as to how an African American pastor of a small church can minister effectively and efficiently in respect to the unique challenges he or she may encounter.
