I am very disappointed. Normally I absolutely LOVE IDW's hardcover illustrated classics, I am the proud owner of their illustrated Sherlock Holmes Volume 1-3, Edgar Allan Poe: The Raven and Other Short Stories, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and The Lovecraft Library Volume 1&2- all of which are INCREDIBLE illustrated works that are a pleasure to read and feature beautiful illustrations, a fantastic print design, and a form factor that is both incredibly comfortable to hold and looks great on a shelf. This installment in the collection however, is the tragic exception to the rule. The binding is loose and weak, the cover and spine designs are uninspired, and the few illustrations the books has (only about a dozen) are thoughtlessly thrown together and do little to capture the essence of the scene. Honestly, this entire book is a sore dissappointment and an insult to the typically high quality of IDW's illustrated classic prose. If you have any interest in an illustrated hardcover copy of Bram Stoker's Dracula, I highly advise that you instead purchase the Harper Design version with illustrations by Becky Cloonan (ISBN: 0061992151), available on amazon new for about $13 with two day shipping. It is a masterful adaption and offers everything I had hoped the IDW Templesmith edition would, but failed to.

Not sure how this could be anything less than five stars - one of the greatest horror stories now combined with one of the greatest horror illustrators.

Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night, Fell, Squid Girls...) is one of the hottest artists right now, and that's in no small part due to his uniquely terrifying take on vampires. IDW cleverly paired him with a nicely rebound Dracula to make one of the nicest collector's editions of the book I've ever seen.

No, this isn't a graphic novel - but it is a bloody, good (and bloody good) book.

Mainly because I don't really think Templesmith's illustrations fit with what Dracula should be, even though I appreciated them. A matter of personal preference I think.

Other than that, I must say this is a quality edition of the original text at a very acessible price and with quality illustrations throughout. A good buy.
