Before I begin my rant, let me state that I purposely delayed buying DAI for over two years! I hated the way BioWare/EA acted and have still NOT fixed the ending to Mass Effect 3 (refer to MrBtongue's TUN videos on YouTube to understand why I hated the ending to ME3). With the DAI Game-Of-The-Year edition, I paid a lot less for the Game, than I would have when it first came out.
The things that annoyed me about DAI:
[1] The SciFi-like GUI.
[2] Radar-like searching. Radars are out-of-place in a Medieval Fantasy Game.
[3] When opening doors/chests/etc. and grabbing loot, instead of 'hand-like' icon, you get a concentric circle icon. This icon is more suited for a Sci-Fi game.
[4] The Glitches, and they were hilariously plenty. Even the Developers must have noticed them, because in the game they try to explain it away as "The Breaches/Rifts are causing 'Glitches' in time". HOWEVER, when you clear an area of Breaches/Rifts, the Glitches are STILL occurring quite frequently afterwards! DAI had 11 patches! That is a lot and shows how DAI has many glitches.
In DAO and DA2, I was able to 'immerse' myself into the game and its world. Because of the above four things, I was unable to in DAI.
Other things that annoyed me:
[5] DAI tried to be more like a Skyrim Game. I do not want a Skyrim-like Game, I want a Dragon Age-like Game! I want a more story focused game. Yes, having multiple BIG open world 'sand boxes' is nice, BUT NOT at the expense of story. It really annoyed me when you accomplish a major world changing quest, and, afterwards, go into a town, and the town's NPCs have nothing new to say. This made the towns feel dead and zombie-like. It was not so with DAO and DA2. As another example: When you jail a villain, the Prison Guard still says she has no one to guard, despite a previously unoccupied jail cell now having the villain you had jailed.
I want a Smaller, but DYNAMIC open-world game, rather than a Huge, but Static open-world game.
[6] DAI did not have a Day and Night cycle. The Areas of DAI are vast. When entering a new area, it seemed ridiculous that you could explore it in one day. OK DAO did not have a Day/Night Cycle, but DA2 made an attempt to have one, which was nice and added to the 'immersion' factor.
[7] When in combat, DAO and DAI had an EXCELLENT AI system for your companions (called Tactics), which you could program in detail yourself. Best of all, you could program multiple Tactics for the same companion. Although cumbersome to program, this made switching Tactics easy when facing different types of enemies. The AI system in DAI is horrible (again, I blame the game engine for this).
In DAO and DA2, because I was so immersed in those games and their stories, I never 'farmed' for XP or for gold. Because I could not immerse myself into DAI, I have 'farmed' for XP, gold and loot, and abused the game's bugs/exploits.
End of review.
======================================
In addition, why does DAI have so many Illuminati Symbols in it?
The Inquisition Symbol is a combination of the Illuminati Eye and Templar-like symbol (a part of the Illuminati origins can be traced back to the Templars).
There is also a Five Arrows Symbol in DAI, which is a Rothschild's Symbol (representing the 5 sons of Mayer Amschel Rothschild). Funny thing is, this symbol is on a 'card', under a red crouching rogue with an upheld knife in his hand and with a smirk on his face. Was someone trying to say the Rothschilds are a bloody bunch of devious, sneaky, conniving, murderous thieves?
Value:
Extremely good. I would wait for this to go on sale as it does fairly often. The Game of the Year Edition will give you the most value because it contains all of the DLC in addition to the full game. But EVEN if you pay full price for this game you are getting your money's worth. You can easily spend 100+ hours on one play trough here guys. Not to mention you will want to play through it again... That is because this game is huge and there is more than enough to do.
Graphics:
Amazing. I will say that on PC you will get the very best graphics but the difference on the PS and Xbox is negligible. Thedas come alive in front of you like you have never seen it before.
Story:
I am primarily a single player gamer. So I am big on the story of a game. BioWare, as usual, does not disappoint. The story pulls you in from the first few minutes until the very end. You will really feel a part of this one. The story changes slightly depending on your race and game choices as well! Also you will want to do the DungeonKeeper story line on the Dragon Age website to make the story choices whether you played the last couple dragon ages or not. This is because the game world will change based on these choices.
PROS:
Graphics are stunning
Story is engaging
Amazing value here
CONS:
Multiplayer leaves a lot to be desired plus the micro transactions (head slap).
Fans of the very technical team tactics will wish they could make more choices.
Please excuse me. I have more Dragon Age Inquisition to play...
