Editorial Reviews
From Booklist
*Starred Review* Peter DelaSangre lives in seclusion with his father on an island off the coast of Florida. They have good reason for their isolation: Peter and his father are dragons. Capable of taking human form, they have built a successful business in Florida, run by humans they control but don't trust. Peter and his father feed on humans, but do so stealthily, so as not to draw attention to themselves. But when Peter brings a young woman named Maria to the island in secret and kills her to avoid having her discover that he is a dragon, he draws the suspicion of her brother, Jorge. Peter is distracted, however, by his father's death and the scent of a female dragon who possibly could become his mate. When he at last finds this female dragon, Elizabeth, he fights for her and wins her as his bride. Jorge's relentless search for his sister and the treachery of someone working at Peter's company dog the young couple, and Elizabeth is perplexed by Peter's unwillingness to merely do away with his human enemies. The tension builds as a mysterious further enemy becomes a real threat to the dragons. An exciting, inventive, unique novel with, in Peter, a surprisingly sympathetic protagonist. Kristine Huntley

Found this book as a kid(series) and loved it. It was well written then and still holds that action and imagery today as well.

One of the most surreal and engaging novels I have read where dragons are involved. They are depicted as intelligent and devious as legends and myth tells, and with a killer ending.

After reading a few reviews I get the impression some readers were looking for the next 'great american novel'. Not going to happen here, just a great romp in the supernatural with good characterization and a good story. Get over yourselves. Some of you missed the point completely. Would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys science fiction, fantasy and the supernatural. Not recommended for children. Young adult may be fine but read it yourself before you give it to your teen!

I was sucked into this book by the comparison to Anne Rice's illumination of vampire 'otherness', but I feel that does this author a disservice. Though a bit slow to hook this reader, I found it to be a worthy and enjoyable read if allowed to be its own, fresh exploration.

it really sucks that his publisher dropped him.
I think we could have had many more books after the first four.

Best off genre erotica with a Dragon twist! Read it the day after it hit the market. Had to have it for my personal collection. :)
