From the Manufacturer
Control Your Digital World by Voice
Dragon Dictate for Mac speech recognition software ignites new academic possibilities by leveling the playing field and helping all students — even those with learning or physical challenges — reach their full potential. Dragon Dictate helps students keep up with their brains and more easily and clearly express their thoughts in writing by eliminating the mechanical aspects of typing or handwriting that can frustrate or slow them down. Students say words and they appear on their computer screen — three times faster than typing — with up to 99% accuracy and no misspellings. They can create and edit documents, manage e-mail, search the web, post to Facebook and Twitter, and more just by talking. With simple voice commands, it’s easy to open, close, and navigate between applications, or even create custom voice commands to execute multiple steps with a simple word or phrase. For convenience on the go, students can even dictate into a digital voice recorder or a compatible iOS device and have Dragon transcribe the audio files into text on their Mac.
Turn Your Talk Into Text
Dragon Dictate for Mac Student / Teacher 3 lets you transform your ideas into text at the speed of thought. Simply speak and Dragon captures your thoughts – three times faster than typing, and with 99% accuracy – so you’ll never lose track of another great idea.
Dictate and edit documents, e-mails, instant messages, Facebook and Twitter posts, and more. Correcting or revising your dictated text is simple with a new, more powerful correction interface that lets you quickly edit words or phrases. And Dragon Dictate for Mac 3 adapts to your voice and the words you use to deliver better recognition results over time. You can even personalize Dragon with acronyms, proper names, and other unique phrases that you frequently use.
Use Your Favorite Applications
Dragon Dictate for Mac 3 goes beyond simple speech-to-text, and gives you control in more applications so that you can simply speak to do more than ever before. Use Dragon Dictate in Mac OS X Lion or Mountain Lion with virtually any Mac application. Create and edit documents in Microsoft Word, TextEdit, Notepad, and Pages, work with spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel and Numbers, create presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint and Keynote, manage e-mail in Mail, search the web or your Mac desktop, post to Facebook or Twitter, and more – all by voice.
Dragon Dictate’s Express Editor lets you dictate into a text field in any application on the Mac for which it does not have Full Text Control. After you finish dictating, simply transfer the text from the Express Editor to the desired application quickly and easily by voice.

Top customer reviews
Let me know if you have any questions.
I think the program is actually really good. I have used it to write a few papers so far. My only complaint is that sometimes the cursor moves to Orlando (a random) place while I am talking and then I have to go back and delete what I said because I don't really know we're(where) it made the mistake. This can be especially annoying when I'm reading a big block text from a book. I find that I have to look up at the text every few sentences to make sure the cursor hasn't jumped to a random place on the page.
I've also use (used) the program to type my hand written class notes. I think it is a real timesaver. This is beneficial for people who have issues with typing - whether you have a physical hindrance or you are a person who types slow. Overall, I would recommend buying this program. I think the glitches can be fixed over time. I just need to take the time to read the entire manual. Hope this review helps you in making a decision on whether to make a purchase. This is a great price if you are a student or teacher.
As for the previous negative review, if you look at the details on the product, it definitely states that you must be a student or teacher - that's why it is called the student/teacher edition. The price discount is made for people who fit those two categories so do not purchase this product if you do not qualify as either one. Unless you know someone who will allow you to use their school email address to authenticate the purchase, you will not be able to use this version. (However, I do not condone such unethical practices).
FYI, I have a brand-new MacBook Pro (purchased in November) so this may be why I haven't had too many system problems.
Bottom line: unless you are desperate, wait for version 12. That's the number of versions Windows users tell me were necessary to get a good application.
And technical support is poor.
