During the tween and teen years, there is such a struggle for our children and for us as parents. This book is an allegoric story that will give them a different perspective of that battle. The battle is real, even though, sometimes we think it more than a spiritual one. Dragon Seed points out the spiritual complexities very clearly.
The characters were very typical and real to, as a mother of teens and pre-teens. I felt like the story was very believable. So often our children are tempted by events and people around them. This story shows how both are fighting for our children's attention.
Not only did this book take a deeper look at the child who is making the wrong choice, but the one who seems in the right, but still making spiteful or prideful choices. So often, we see the child who is doing the wrong things as worse than the child who is seeming to do the right thing, but who is struggling with pride in their heart.
I highly recommend this book for parents and children to read. It can lead to a great deal of important conversations. I look forward to reading the next one, that I suspect will be out in the near future!
NOTE: I received a complimentary copy of Dragon Seed
An angry teen, a desperate mother, a missing father, and a shadow lurking in the background. Things were going from bad to worse for Nick and his family. But just as he was ready to leave home, he was given the story of his far-off grandfather to read another angry young man who lived in the shadows, but whose life was changed forever by his encounter with a carpenter who rescued him as he wandered through a first century graveyard. Could that long ago story save Nick as well?
Nick is having trouble dealing with everyday life. His life seems to be turning itself upside down these days. As Nick starts to delve off into something that on the surface for all intents and purposes seems okay, he quickly learns it isn't. But what is he going to do when his life and this newly discovered world seems to be way too much for him to handle?
Nick seems to be a good young man that has been handed a very hard road in life but hopefully this experience will turn his life around. Dragon Seed is a book based primarily on allegory but my 12 year old son is enjoying it, very much. It seems really deep but understandable. The author is well researched and very talented. Can't wait to read more of his work.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. All opinions are my own.
It's about this teen who was disrespecting his parents and leaving the house at all hours of the night and day and scaring his mom half to death and not caring one bit. The loss of his dad triggered the problems.
His mom gives him this book and he reads it to get her off his back and he finds out what he's doing is wrong.
A hint of romance is included. I recommend this book for anybody who likes a good dragon story, or a spiritual warfare story.
This book is geared toward teens and tweens. I received a free copy. My opinion is my own.
I think everyone can relate to someone in this book. Either the other struggling with a prideful son, the son who is struggling with his thoughts and pride, or the daughter who struggles with her own sense of pride.
Pride is such a huge temptation for us and one of our biggest sins keeping us from having a relationship with Christ. This book and the twelve days of devotions in the back show us how to deal with Pride an how we must humble ourselves before the Lord.
Although I know the story of the Devil's fall from Heaven and Christ's death and Resurrection very well, this allegory take really brought new aspects to life. I found it to be really inspiring and helped me to gain a new dedication to my faith. The daily devotions were amazing. Using scripture and personal stories was the perfect touch.
I zoomed through the book wanting to see how this troubled son would use this story to fight off the Dragon seed of Pride in his heart. This is a really fast paced book that will change your perspective. How these stories are history and people actually witnessed them!
I received this book free from the publisher but wasn't required to leave a review. All opinions are my own!
