Exceptionally well written with intricate details that are often only found in a few novels.
Ms Chase really did cover everything possible that a person and a dragon shifter would experience after the unusual events of Serenitys upbringing.
After moving into the city only she and her mum understood how important it was to stick together as a family so caring for each other was how they survived and kept themselves under the radar away from anyone who might be looking for them
That is until the one job her mum went out to complete, and never returned from. They had been living in the city for a number of years so Serenity knew what to do.
It was human intervention that (in her eyes) created problems for her later, a young girl living by herself, no parent around, will cause people to step in to guarantee her safety, so Serenity had to take off and hide in the streets, anything her mum had left for her to access ended up being out of reach.
Once Serenitys twenty first birthday hit, her life dramatically changed, she met her mates and found a world she had previously not been aware of living alongside the humans so she was surprised when she found she was part of that world, including being a major contributor to it's survival. After her mother had disappeared Serenity hidden so any shifter abilities she may have had during her younger years, became buried under trying to stay out of sight and surviving, so with her best friend Kylie, Serenity developed into a strong determined young woman who understood survival and helped her with dealing with her future.
Once Serenity was introduced to her mates ( even though it took time to convince her of who she really was including her shifter abilities) Serenity learned how to allow her second nature to thrive and to understand who and what she represented.
So up until Serenity turned 21 she had never known anything about her past everything was connected as Serenity soon found out.
In Book one Serenity learns about herself and who she was, and she finds the information starts rush back into her memories, giving her a chance to catch up with what she had missed in her younger years, especially with why it was so important for her to understand who she was and her position within the shifter community.
From this point on Serenity's life becomes one of learning, controlling and helping others as she is guided into the position she had been groomed to take.
With the security, strength and love from her four mates, Serenity takes on the mantle that has been left behind for her with all the grace and courage of a reigning monarch.
There are 3 books in the series and trust me when I say your going to have trouble putting them down, full of adventure and emotional trauma, as she deals with her past.
With strength and caring she steps up to learn how to be the head of her kin and help in any way she can Serenity is surprised at how easily she slips into the mantle she has inherited.
The further into the series we go more facts and mysteries rise up trying to cause her to panick, but the fortification she is establishing has been tried and tested centuries before her arrival so those who are attempting to sabotage the balance she is trying desperately to establish find themselves up against a somewhat worthy opponent who is far from ready to give up the shifter communities she is protecting.
The action packed adventure is fast paced overall, while interwoven with the guidence and direction needed to understand a great deal of what's happening , which Serenity gets from her mates, the book is filled with plenty of action and mysteries so she needs to learn the reasons why others want to destroy everything she needs to save as attempts to destroy her and those she loves happens almost daily.
Those trying to stop her do not want a functioning system in place.they rather chaos so they can keep their fingers on the pulse of the communities and basically take what they want when they want.
Becoming a huge dragon shifter will only help you so far her strengths and power as a dragon are extremely important in the whole scheme of things, but cannot really add to the detailed brainstorming needed to keep the peace and an effective systems running, while she put into place whats needed to keep everyone safe.
There is so much within the series that kept drawing me back it was almost impossible to put down so if you enjoy shifters and the world of the paranormal then you are going to be as taken with the series as I am.
I highly recommend you grab a copy and delve into the world of Serenity and those she loves and protects as soon as you can.
