Review

Nancy Segovia paints the characters and setting for Dragon Tears with word pictures that take readers to worlds beyond...into the imagination. This book is one that adults will enjoy reading to their children to create special book memories. Then as the child grows into reading Dragon Tears independently, it will become a loved book in their personal library. A favorite line, spoken by a dragon is, "By my flame, there's nothing wrong with being different." What a message for our children to learn and appreciate. In today's world, our children need to have books such as Dragon Tears in their reading repertoire that are uplifting and provide hope. --Joyce M. Gilmour (Teacher of third graders for thirty-six years and  owner of Editing TLC.  editingtlc.com)

Dragon Tears is a fun and exciting read for young people ages 10-15 that will give them action, humor and a fantasy world that is all too real. They will travel through a land of dragons, magicians, and evil wizards and learn that not only is it okay to be unique, but that  they are more than capable of handling any obstacles the challenge of growing up can throw at them.  Nancy Segovia is a talented author with a knack for writing young adult stories that any pre-teen or teen can identify with and enjoy.  - Jody A. Dragon Tears is a charming fantasy for a wide range of readers! I read this novel to my fourth graders, and they were enchanted by the fast-moving plot and adventures of Patrik as he not only navigates a fantastical world, but also the struggles that beset any youth as he endeavors to grow and mature. Of particular delight to young readers are the well delineated main characters who feel like they are misfits because they can't engage in particular forms of magic. Yet who doesn't feel like an outcast between the ages of 8 and 18? As the main characters draw upon each other's strengths and wisdom, they embark on a journey to save their land anyway, which leaves the reader rooting for these underdogs as they achieve many victories. Vividly told, this is one fantasy tale that brings real-world character building to the young reader's experience and will make you want to revisit the story again and again.

A boy devoid of magic and a dragon who cannot fly. Two outcasts join up to cross a magical country full of singing mountains, earth dragons and wizards to find the dragon king and save the world. Filled with danger, excitement, and fun, our two heros face numerous obstacles before an ending that is just a touch dissatisfying. (Leaving me thinking another book is in the offing?)

I don't normally read middle-school books, but the cover of this one was so beautiful and intriguing that I just had to have a go. I was not disappointed. The writing is good, the plot clear if a little too fast for me, but might be perfect for young ones, and it was quite a captivating fantasy. I loved the battle between good and evil and the descriptions of all the various lands they had to cross was spot on. This really is a great story.

I just wasn't sure about the age of the reader. I have a middle school grandson who would find this childish and my grammar school grandson might not be up to the task. I can't think of an age harder to write for than middle school, however the novel is good, fast, and solid. If your child is into fantasy, dragons, and magic, this is a good pick for them.

I received a complimentary copy of the e-book in exchange for an honest review.

Nancy Segovia makes a beautiful read for all ages of morals about no matter our differences and what we were "raised to believe ," we have the ability to overcome if we can look a little farther and a little deeper than what we have been taught our whole life. In a world such as ours, with society being what it is these days, this book should, in my opinion, be a must in EVERY SCHOOL, AND EVERY GRADE, at least ONCE. Both of my boys will be required to read this as we do homeschooling, but, we also do not allow bigotry OF ANY KIND OR DISCRIMINATION. And without the youngsters in this book, and thankfully the Wizard, whom has actually had real interaction with dragons, helped these 'races' or 'species'. I loved this book, you will too, I think! I received this book in return for an honest review.

A lovely fantasy story for elementary aged children.

This is a sweet, simple fantasy tale that deals with a young boy and a dragon and carries the message that those who are good and pure at heart will be rewarded. The characters and the dialogue are well done, as is the world building and the history of the races. I enjoyed reading about the dragon kinds and seeing the descriptions of their various habitats. The wizard and the cat were humorous and well done too.

This is a great middle grade story that I recommend for those ages 8 - 12.

A beautifully written and wonderfully imagined YA adventure, but one that would appeal to any reader. I fell in love with the characters - human, dragon, and wizard - and couldn't put it down. Segovia is a talent to be watched. Highly recommended!

Review on Dragon Tears by Nancy Segovia

This was my first time reading a Nancy Segovia book. I am a big fan of dragons, this book did not disappoint. It was filled with adventure as well as emotion. The basic storyline was filled with emotion on the relationships between those who are precieved as "different". There were many underlying "lessons", from accepting who you are in this world to accepting those that are different from you. The adventure came from the many experiences of this unusual group of travelers. From their first encounters with one another to their final meeting of the creator.

I also felt the spiritual message of good vs. evil was played out very well. I particularly liked the concept of the one creator and the mystery surrounding the belief of one creator responsible for the creation of the world.

It was wonderful the way the author's writing helped me to visualize the characters, scenery and the array of colors and texture. I look forward to reading more books by this extremely talented author, Nancy Segovia.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you for the opportunity to read your book.
