Shanti’s propensity for both world-building and character development don’t go unnoticed in Meddhi’s tale. This imaginative, and oftentimes endearing story, deals with a wide host of worlds and a variety of aliens that all come together in the ever-evolving saga of the Un Galaxy. As for Shanti's main protagonist ... “The Dragon Warrior of Kri” sees an awakening in Meddhi, from subservient peaceful holy man to powerful warrior learning to be on his own and in charge of his own destiny. The length of this story may be brief, but it is long on insight for a character that will soon become the driving force behind Shanti’s Shiva XIV series, for “The Dragon Warrior of Kri” not only outlines Meddhi’s ultimate goals—for himself and his people, it sets the tone for his charismatic and pivotal role as the beloved mentor for the long-awaited messiah of his home galaxy and star of Shanti’s epic series, Ayn. In the end, what makes a for a great short read for any Sci-fi fan, proclaims Shanti’s “The Dragon Warrior of Kri” as a must-read for all Shiva XIV followers.

It's a thought-provoking storyline enriched by beautifully written sensory detail and powerful undercurrents of love, self-discovery and rising to meet the challenges of one's destiny.
Shanti is a master of world building and story telling. Her writing draws the reader into this world and envelopes them in the drama and crisis points of the story so effectively that it's hard to put the book down.
The characters are vivid and engaging, each one portrayed as complex, highly individual, and conflicted both by their own flaws and by others' expectations of them. This makes them highly relatable, and keeps the reader hoping that their favorite will prevail.
Although it is a short story that fully complements the Shiva XIV series, it works perfectly well as a standalone story.
New readers should consider themselves warned, though: this book will leave them wanting more. Thankfully, Shanti's novels and other stories set in the same world are able to provide exactly that.
It's a quick read - and fun too, as Meddhi is forced to make choices that set him on his path. The way it ends feels like a good launch pad for the later books too, making you want to turn the page and find out what's next. I guess I'd best get started on the whole saga!
I haven't read the Shiva series and this short makes me want to explore more of this universe and the people in it.
Nicely written, intriguing and well paced! Highly recommended!
