The Dragon's Portal (Dragon Portal) Paperback – April 7, 2013
About the Author
I have always had an overactive imagination, as many can attest. One night I had this terrible dream where this scary man with glowing eyes and a dark hood glowered down on me. To be honest it scared the heck out of me, so I decided to write a story about him and make him not scary. This is how my first book The Dragon's Portal came about. I am usually powered by Blu cigs, Dr Pepper, Vanilla Coke, and coffee. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I have. I am big fan of fantasy novels and I hope this author writes more in the future.
I would recommend this to anyone who loves fantasy and fiction. I remember reading books like this as a young man and this is as good as or better than some I read by published authors. Sally Slayer is a very promising young author and I hope she writes more. Thanks for letting me forget the world's worries for a while.
This was a great bargain for $1.99
Many years and dream visions later Amaya returns to the land where she was born and has to discover who she is, what she is and above all her true destiny. She has a cast of characters that go along this journey filled with pain and difficulty. Will she discover who she really is and embrace it or will she turn and run?
So this story had me a little torn. I love stories like this, you know overcoming adversity, beating the odds, Oh and did I mention there's dragons in it. While the story line is ingenious and the characters and their quirks amazing, I would have liked to have a little more dialogue between them. For instance, instead of being told that this action happened, have the scene be acted out so we can get the full effect. Sometimes the emotion seemed to get lost in translation, I read they were mad but I wanted to feel them being mad as well. Now don't get me wrong some of the details in this book were fabulous but other parts left me wondering ok so this action happened then what.
This is a great story and has the potential to be phenomenal but in all honesty I'm intrigued to read what she has in store for the next chapter of this saga. I mean that was probably one of the best cliff hangers I read; here is a little soul shredding death, a little vengeance ( not enough if you ask me), a whole "Luke I am your father...." aspect and to top it off some major destruction of property.
