Dragon's Revenge is the conclusion to the Hunters of Reloria series, and a fitting one, too. The heroes go to hell and back (okay, through a portal to another planet, in fact), face insurmountable odds and fight legions of evil-doers. This much, I expected. What I did not expect was the extent of Beaumont's imagination and creativity and her descriptive abilities, that painted vividly not one, but a whole score of worlds, from a wizard's city unlike anything I had ever read to deep forests and faraway planets.
My only question concerned the fate of a certain hero at the end. Is there a sequel or short story to follow? If so, I'm buying it.
Kasper Beaumont has done it again! Book three is a thrilling and satisfying conclusion to the series. The author takes great care to resolve storylines and give each character a fulfilling finish. I especially liked the romance between two reoccurring characters in particular (I can’t state their names and spoil it for those who haven’t read the book) but I found their romantic development both endearing and humorous! “Dragon’s Revenge” features everything a reader wants in a finale – epic battles, heartbreaking losses, heroic stands and unrelenting fortitude against all odds. My only complaint (and it has nothing to do with the writing) is that I felt that some of the book’s numerous illustrations were not at the same level of professionalism as the writing. Nonetheless, the story delivers an appropriate and rewarding end for Kasper Beaumont’s ‘Hunters of Reloria’ series!
Update: The author stated that "The illustrations were mainly submitted by children in a fantasy art competition" so that explains the variance in artistic professionalism in the illustrations. Kudos to the author for including her fans drawings in her published book! How exciting for the artists!
This third book starts from where the book 2 left off. On one side Reloria is under attack and on the other princess and her companions are struggling to get away from their enemies, trapped in a foreign planet with no way of getting to Reloria in sight. later they joined forces with rebels and were able to rescue wizards. Who then helped them to open a portal, so that they cab return to their homeland. Things are getting fierce by the day and mountain people were killed. When hunters are re-united, their mission was to fight and defeat their common enemy.
We meet some new characters along the way and all the old characters remain just as entertaining as before. My favourite character in this one is Asher-a shape shifter, who is mountain man and a dragon at the same time. But all the other characters are good too. and the climax was indeed epic. Loved it and recommend it to all book lovers/readers.
There are some unusual romantic pairings in this book but it works out really well and it is nice that the characters even though are on the way to war still have time to find love. The last battle is intense, sad and full of action with severe losses on both sides. If you loved the first two then you will love this book. The ending is well thought out and ties everything up nicely.
