Dragos and his mate Pia are in Bermuda for a well-deserved mini-vacation but it doesn't take long before his plans are interrupted by pirates and his son who is developing faster than the new parents are prepared for. With his beautiful, strong mate at his side, Dragos will handle any problem and still make time for some fun in the sun.

Dragos and Pia are a team and together they knock it out of the park and show how incredible their relationship has become. The chemistry is better than it has ever been and that spills over into the bedroom, steaming up the pages. Though they're my favorite couple in this series, I can usually find something to knit pick at but this time, I'm thrilled to say I found nothing.

Peanut! Since the magical little bundle of joy made his way into the series he's had fans wrapped around his little fingers...and talons. It's great seeing things from his POV. It gives a new perspective of Dragos and Pia and gives you can idea about the incredible power that already resides in the cute little Wyr. It's a real treat and I hope it's not the last time we'll see the Elder Races world through his eyes.

As usual, Thea Harrison packs a lot into her novella. Aside from some beach time with Peanut, Pia, and Dragos, who makes me melt each time he openly embraces and loves his son, things take a tense turn when pirates catch wind that Dragos is looking for a lost treasure and they'll go to extreme lengths to get their hands on it first. This story adds a bit of an edge to the novella and gives Dragos the opportunity to show why you never mess with his family. From start to finish, Dragos Takes a Holiday is some fun storytelling and renews my love for this series.

Life is all work work work for Dragos head of the Elder Races, oldest of them all. Normally it's no big deal, but this past year has been increasingly stressful. First he finds the love of his life, almost looses her (twice), then finds out she's preggers.. Add to that, all of his sentinels seem to be finding their mates as well. And some of those mates are taking away those closest to him. Now "peanut" is three months old and Dragos and Pia seriously need some time off!

This story was just plain fun! Dragos and Pia take a weekend jaunt to Bermuda to search for lost treasure. Of course nothing can be that simple.. there is mystery and mayhem aplenty. Add to it a precocious dragon baby and well.. nothing is easy!

It was fun to see this little slice of Dragos and Pia's life. I really enjoy when authors do this. We all know that there is so much more to a character than what we read on the pages of their book. And by offering us this vignette into their personal lives, we get to share some more times with characters we love. Thea Harrison writes a wonderful series with her Elder Races books and I am absolutely thrilled that she continues to offer us a chance to connect with these characters.

This is a fast fun read and while I seriously recommend reading the entire series, IN ORDER, if you have a free Sunday afternoon and just want to enjoy a pleasant read, this is the one for you.

THE STORY: Dragos, Pia and Liam take a vacation. While searching for sunken treasure, pirates put the family in danger.

OPINION: This is a cute story about the first family of the Wyr. I loved that readers get to see this family interacting apart from the glimpses in other novels. Dragos and Pia are still sexy and sweet and deadly. I especially loved the development of Liam that is seen in this novella. This is a great novella for fans of the Dragos and Pia. There is little to the story but is really centered on this family.

WORTH MENTIONING: I just love little Liam aka Peanut. Simply adorable.

FINAL DECISION: A cute story that doesn't advance the overarching Elder Races story but rather is a personal story about Dragos, Pia and Liam.

CONNECTED BOOKS: DRAGOS TAKES A HOLIDAY is book 6.5 of the Elder Races series. It can be read as a standalone although readers would be better served by reading DRAGON BOUND and LORD'S FALL first.

STAR RATING: I give this novella 4 stars.

I skipped this one when it came out and decided to back track. While it was nice to see Liam as a baby and his growth, the rest of the story was anti-climatic. In a week of vacation time there is a kidnapping and quick retrieval. . . . A centuries old ship wreck identified and recovered. . . . And everything happened so fast. Dragos is out in all his possessive dominate posturing as well as a nice touch of fatherly affection and pride. Those little scenes with father and son were really nice.

But overall this short story was just ho-hum. It didn't shine, Peanut isn't as 'cute' as in his 'Peanut Goes to School' novella. Pia's just along for the ride and trying to figure out her son. It all came together and was rather simple. Shallow. Not in depth and complicated but fast and over quickly. No backlash on Drago's taking his revenge. It was just too pat. - Dan's Wife

PS A big part of my disappointment -- Editing errors. Pia is a 'he'. Just a few instances but for this writer and top notch writing I expected more. It was even worse seeing those mistakes in a novella -- They stood out.
