cant wait to use them. I find the association and references to brain neurology/psychology fascinating.
Initially the books delivered were damaged in shipping but Im amazed how quickly I got a replacement in a crisp new envelope with the books in great condition. Thank you!
Top international reviews
Before Betty Foster's book, I took a long time to draw and needed to make a lot of corrections, which held up painting. It was good fun and challenging working on the exercises and there is a definite improvement in my drawing. I find I'm looking at things differently now: feeling less daunted and more excited.
I have started working on it, n it took a long time to arrive it, started drawing in it already. hence won't be returning it. But the condition of the book that arrived was terrible. Should have returned it instantly.
Content wise, the book is super. It feels like you have this mentor and she's guiding you very positively. I bought the workbook before reading the textbook, because i had budget constraints and I read in a review that you could get started with this easily and just the same. Quality, thickness of the pages is good, unlike the way I got it delivered.
PBC Mart sucks. But it from another seller.
That being said I strongly recommend this workbook. Yes you can probably do all the exercises without the workbook, using just the main book to get the exercises, but I found it really helpful to have everything all wrapped up in a single package. Initially I was just going to use the book but it was well worth it to have it all in one place. Not only are exercises one after the other (saving you from having to go back and forth through pages), but it also shows you what's coming, includes all the details you need with each exercise, and so on. I really found it a great companion to the book.
Hint: If you want to save yourself the book for later, I recommend buying a pad (of higher quality paper) so that you can do the exercises outside of the book. Some are also harder then others so it's nice to be able to restart and so on when need be.
Now as an adult, I love to dabble with oil paints. My main issue with starting a painting was drawing out the picture first.... I was horrible at drawing again. I'm only part way through the workbook but I can say, I'm definitely improving already. The workbook has reminded me how to engaged the other side of the brain that does better drawings and less thinking. This is good stuff!
The ONLY book you need to start drawing, to see the world through artist eyes.
Having sold my copy of "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" to a used book store years ago, I can assure you that this workbook doesn't have the theoretical dryness and superfluous talk of that text. The workbook has short explanations, followed by exercises you can do in the spaces provided. Easy and fun.
The quality of the book was a bit aged, not used, but old. But I ignored that, as the content is what matters.
