I’m not a big fan of cliffhangers so when I found out this book had one I held off reading it u until the second was due to be released and if I’m honest I’m so glad I did this. There is no way I could have waited to get the conclusion to this story.
Antonia has suffered an awfully traumatic experience and decides to move back to the states to find a new start. She moves in with her childhood best friend and her brooding older brother. I liked Antonia in this book, I felt so sorry for her and the things she endured but she was likeable for the most part.
Finlay has been thrust into the role of CEO of his father company after his unexpected death and has so much resting on his shoulders. When we first meet him he is uptight and to be fair a bit of an a$$hole.
There were times these two characters just seemed to bring the worst out in each other but there were also times they brought the absolute best out in each other. I enjoyed seeing their relationship blossom but there were times I thought they should have calmed down and talked rationally instead of flying off the handle.
Ker Dukey brought us a story filled with pain, suffering, humour, love and heartache.Ker’s writing is hard hitting and raw, the characters aren’t perfect and I think that’s why I love them so much! This was a motley crew and each one of them had a different story to tell, I have come to love these characters and can’t wait to see where the conclusion to this story takes us!
Finlay’s friends were a welcome distraction and I enjoyed their antics (especially Gabe’s promiscuous ways and suggestive comments). Finlay’s sister Gaby, who was supposedly Antonia’s best friend was actually kind of absent in the story. They’re supposed to be close enough that Antonia was living with Gaby and yet she isn't around that much.
There were 2 reveals at the end, and I’m going to say I was 75% right because I knew 1 and the other I was almost right, so close. Both of these reveals happened right at the end of the story so I’m definitely eager to see how this affects the characters in the next book.
Antonia suffered from a very traumatic experience. She decided to move in with her friend Gaby, until her new apartment was ready. Little did she know Finlay, would be there the very first day. And the connection with them was instant. I wish they did spend more time to get to know each other. I think everything that happened with them happened way too quickly. Antonia was searching for hope and in moving, she found a new home. A new family. She wants to face the demons of her past and move on.
Finlay was sweet and just flat out hot. He ends up giving Antonia his whole heart. I could tell he was new to the whole love thing. He was a womanizer until Antonia came into the picture. But he did want to change for her. What I didn't like about Finlay was his temper and jealousy. He did act like a child at times. And yes, I do love see the guys get jealous in the books, but Finlay went overboard with it. He was just so immature. I am really hoping he changes and gets his act together. But, Finlay does have secrets. And when those secrets come out, everything changes for everyone.
Gavin was my favorite character. I just loved his personality. He was a huge womanizer, but I think there is a lot more to him than that. He just hasn't found the right woman yet. Gavin was hilarious. Loved his jokes and comments. Loved the banter. He was a very loyal man and just very loving. He was always there for the people he cared about.
Finlay, Gaby, Brad, Gavin, Gabe, Libby and Antonia all became so very close. And I loved this friendship they had. They would do anything for each other and protect each other, because were one huge family. They all were always together for the most part. Either crashing at Antonia's, Gaby's or Finlay's. This group accepted Antonia in from the very beginning and then Libby as well. These friends did have their battles with each other. But they always worked through it.
This book had so many secrets and twists. I was waiting for it all to unravel and then BOOM!!! Got hit with a several twists at the end that completely shocked me. I was left thinking what did I just read? These secrets were completely EPIC!!! Definite WOW moments!! The drama was off the charts!!! So much drama!! Loved it!
Drawn to You was a a fantastic read from start to finish. Once I found out that this was a new adult contemporary romance, I couldn't wait to read it. Ker Dukey did a wonderful job with this story. I can't wait to read the sequel now!! I am so excited to see where Ker Dukey takes it!! She knows how to change things up and completely shock me!! Can't wait for Lines Drawn! I also want to say that this cover is absolutely gorgeous!!!
This book is not a stand alone. Well I guess it could be but that ending...no way can I stop here!!
So this story is told mostly through Antonia's view. She endured something no woman should ever endure and decided to move on with her life back in the United States with her best friend Gaby. But boy did she forget how hot Gaby's brother is. And there their story begins.
What I love is it is not just those two there is so many friends and couples close to them that you know them all on such different levels. Ker did a phenomenal job at developing these characters and their friendships. I want to say that my gut was telling me the entire time that something isn't right with James. I could be wrong but I will know in about 5 minutes when I start the next book!! Also the little secret at the end about Gavin I had a feeling and boy is that gonna go over well. NOT. Finlay is so damn bipolar but he is so hot that I can totally get over it. I think this is the first book I actually like the female lead more then the male. With that said I love Finlay like a lot!! Hot, hot, hot!!
I was all over the place with this book. I could not put it down. This book kept my 100% attention from the get go!! I can't wait to start the next book!!
