Product Description

DreadHead Dread Soap leaves nothing behind on your hair to slow down the dreading process. No oily perfumes, no dread destroying conditioners and nothing to irritate even the most sensitive of scalps. Our dread soap cleans the hair and leaves no residue behind. It actually helps your dreads tighten,(How?) because it gets the hair so clean and free of oils that the hair will bind, knot, dread, and tighten faster than it normally would. Many soaps make the claim that they clean hair, but these same soaps leave scents, conditioners, moisturizers, and other additives behind, which leave the hair far from clean. The scents, oils, and goo, in their customers hair, are evidence that these soaps are not doing a good job of cleaning. These things build up in your dreads and destroy them by lubricating the hairs, and loosening your knots. Soap that leaves residue on the scalp not only slows down the dreading process but it can cause itching and irritation on the scalp.

Takes all the oil out wiich you want in the beginning so your dreds wont fall out. you want that also after 9 yrs because oil in dreds collects dust, dirt, etc and makes your dreds very heavy. after washing, my dreds are light as a feather- i can flip them around and cuts down on head/neck ache from heavy oily dreds. for these reasons i would stay away from other products that have any oils in them. also helps hair to lock tighter every time you wash. .contrary to what some other reviewers have said it does have massave bubbles- it you dont have a good lather, youve waited too long to wash your hair - do it twice- the 2nd wash you will get the suds. suds is what helps to strip your hair (no conditioners)- keep in mind the goal for silky hair is to dry it out. i know someone who uses a competors product and my dreads always look much better than hers do

I ordered this shampoo at the recommendation of a friend after I had a huge mishap and immense buildup in my locs. It does what it says it will; gets your locs super clean. I didn't get all the buildup out in one fell swoop, but this shampoo helped A LOT. Using it now, after the Great Conditioner Mishap of January 2013, my hair still enjoys it. It's gentle on my scalp, leaves no scents (and thus isn't leaving any residues I think) and rinses out well.

If you're a dreadhead/loc star thinking about giving this shampoo a try, do it. Don't like perceived sticker-shock fool you. It's 16oz, and it's quite effectively, so it's worth it.

I got this product 4 my husband who has dreads. The smell is nice and the product arrived early. My husband said it works great on his hair and he could tell a diffenence in his dreads with one wash. He will continue to use this product. I don't see the diffrence with this product and the knotty boy shampoo, but supposibly the dread head hq works better.

My husband has dreadies and they are less than a year old! I found the dreadhead products, then found their website and fell in love! These guys make quality products and have great customer service and also a great wealth of knowledge about dreads! This soap has been great for his dreads and scalp! He doesn't use it as often as he should, but it still helps a lot. Keeps his dreads clean and the only smell is just a light fresh smell which is very nice. It does a very good job of keeping his dreads from getting greasy and also helps tighten them! This is his second bottle and I will continue to buy this soap and their other products whenever we need them! Love DreadHeadHQ!

I have ethnic hair. The soap is amazing for extracting the excess water left in locks and it cleans the scalp. However; I suffer from Seborrheic Dermatitis and this isn't the solution for me. I've tried so many products to find a natural solution to my issue and I've found that Jason's Jojoba shampoo (no SLS) and oiling my scalp with 100% Castor Oil is the perfect combination.

I didn't want to give he product a bad review, because it did work to a degree.

Dreadlocks are new to me. I purchased the wrong wax product and it left a lot of grease in my hair. The Dread Head HQ Dreadlock Soap cleaned it all up. My hair is very clean and it does help the dreading process.

This is a great product.

I was going to wait to post an accurate review until after I've used it for a couple of weeks to see how well it works (that's the best way to test a product out is to try it for at least 2-3 weeks), but since I've only used it about 3 times, I'm already impressed with the results and will definitely come back on Amazon as long as they're still selling this shampoo on it! Results are amazing! I used to use a tingle shampoo to relieve the itching because I thought other shampoos wouldn't work. I was WRONG. You don't need a tingle shampoo to relieve the itch. Dread Head HQ works amazingly for both cleanliness of dreadlocks AND for relieving an irritated scalp. I highly recommend!
