The box advertises the launcher has a range of 25 feet - it does!
I also purchased additional missiles as they are going to be easy to lose or will be confiscated by those hit accidentally. The replacement missiles are actually fit on the unit a bit tighter and help to increase the range.
I had earned some free Amazon dollars and thought this would be a good way to spend them. After I received it I opened the package, registered for the site, downloaded the software, installed the software, plugged it in and fired 4 shots. Mine does not shoot 25 feet unless fired from a raised surface to the floor. It's probably closer to 15 feet, which isn't bad as it is a toy.
After my home test, I took it into the office fired two more shots and it stopped working. Instead of submitting a trashing review, I decided to contact support which is more than likely not in my timezone. Within 24 hours, however, Dream Cheeky support informed me that I should try, "rotating the barrel, rotating the pistons on the barrel (clockwise) by hand, or even hold it up-side-down and shaking it while trying to fire missiles." It turned out that a good stern whack fixed the problem.
One other thing I didn't realize is that the sound comes from the computer, not the device and the sound is rather annoying. Fortunately as others have said, it can be muted. Lastly, when the software is running and the window is in focus you can use the keyboard arrows to move the turret and tap the space bar to fire.
It has very coarse resolution in both axes and you may need to aim it with your hand. It would be better if it had a camera. It's an okay toy overall. I didn't expect much from the brand named dream cheeky anyway :)
The 4-inch cable length is incorrect, it is actually more around 4 feet, so it provides you great room for placement. I'm still in the early stages of playing with this product, but so far, I'd be willing to buy another one.
