About the Author

Leslie Hachtel was born in Hamilton, Ohio and has lived all over the United States. She started writing years ago when she simply decided to sit down at a typewriter and she was transported to another world. She realized then a writer writes because there is no other choice.

Three of her historicals - "The Defiant Bride","Captain's Captive" and "The Dream Dancer" are available now. Her contemporary, "Texas Summer" is also on all major sites.

Leslie lives in Memphis, Tennessee with her fabulously supportive husband, Bob, and her wonderful stepson, Matt. And of course, with Jakita, the terrier.

The premise of the book is fabulous. A woman who can enter dreams and who manipulates things as she wishes. Then comes her comeuppance. A hero who is strong, sexy and confident. And the humor is terrific! A definite recommend.

Hachtel never disappoints! The Dream Dancer is one of many books of Hachtel's that I have read and it is as good as the rest! Based outside of London in the 1616 Hachtel spins a story of love and hate and the trials and tribulations it takes to find true love. An unmarried Bryce has been suited for many men by her father but has a gift that sends all of the suitors on their way. Bryce's true desire is to find true love. As Bryce and her friends are walking through the market she lands her eyes on Rowland, a lady's man that is not ready to settle down but will do anything to land in Bryce's bed. Rowland pursues Bryce with a kiss that will change her life forever and a marriage proposal to seal his fate in her bed. Being the lady that Bryce is she will not bed a man without being married first. Rowland is frustrated that he can not bed Bryce as he has bed many other women and leaves for court leaving Bryce behind. Taking Rowland for his word Bryce follows Rowland to court with her father in tow. A very prideful Rowland cannot believe Bryce took him for his word with his marriage proposal as he was just trying to bed her like he has many other women. Knowing Rowland's resistance Bryce uses her gift of dancing in Rowland's dreams to show him the life he could have with her. Finally Bryce has Rowland where she wants him only to find many other twists and turns before they can truly be happy together.

This story kept me wanting more the whole way through! I had to know...Are Bryce and Rowland going to be together in the end?....Who has trapped Bryce and her friend?....Did her friend really poison her husband?....Who is this other lady in Rowland's life? Just when I thought the story was coming to an end Hatchel would throw in a twist that made the plot even better!

I really enjoyed this read and suggest you read it as well!

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.

This is the first book I've ever read by Leslie Hachtel and I must say, I am looking forward to reading more from her! "The Dream Dancer" is an enchanting story of young Lady Bryce, who has discovered that she is able to enter other people's dreams and influence them! What an extraordinary concept - who wouldn't want to be able to do that? Even more so for a young lady of breeding in 1616 England - Lady Bryce was able to dissuade possible suitors by "dancing" thru their dreams at night and showing them horrible possible futures if the took her as a wife.

Along comes Lord Rowland, a "dragon slayer" as he first introduces himself to Lady Bryce! He is devilishly good looking, charming and a rake all rolled into one! His reputation doesn't discourage Lady Bryce from following him to court, with the assurance to her father that Lord Rowland has asked her to marry him, so that she can try her skill at turning a womanizer into a one-woman man!

The humor in this book is wonderfully written and never once felt forced - very natural to the point that at times I was laughing out loud while reading! The romance scenes were steamy, but not overdone (thankfully)! The suspense of the "witch hunt" for Lady Bryce is spine-tingling! I was very pleased with this novel and cannot wait to read more from Leslie Hachtel! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review - my advice to anyone contemplating getting this novel is to just do it!! It's a fun time!

I always appreciate a good dose of historical fiction, and this book delivered. I I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and I wasn't disappointed with my decision to do so. Set in England in the 1200's, Lady Bryce discovers that she can exert control over others by inserting herself into their dreams. Although she is aware that the public, during this period in history, considers most any out of the ordinary skill to be witchcraft, she, nevertheless, uses this gift to deter unwanted suitors, and ultimately uses it to influence Lord Rowland, whom she finds irresistible. Lady Bryce, a beautiful maiden who is educated by the "Book", practices sexual moves on Lord Rowland while he is dreaming until he finally decides that he can no longer stand to be without her in the flesh. They marry and enjoy a brief honeymoon (along with all the steamy sex) only to experience heartache and fear when she is arrested for practicing witchcraft. Even though the reader just knows that this will happen, the event/climax itself was a bit anticlimactic. The resolution to the plot happens quickly, and the ending is a bit weak, but it also lends itself to a possible sequel. I found this book to be a light and entertaining read, and I would read any sequel that comes from it.

Leslie Hachtel does not disappoint...ever! Her novel, "Dream Dancer" kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. Set in 1600s England, we read about Lords and Ladies, kings and castles. The main character, Lady Bryce, lost her mother at a young age. Raised by her father, she learned she had a gift. She could manipulate her father to do what she wanted, by entering his dreams. The first time she used her gift was to convince her father to buy her a horse. He bought the horse, and it turn out to not be a good decision. As she got older, she realized she could use her gift for different reasons. During the days of arranged marriages, Lady Bryce entered the dreams of potential husbands to convince them to not marry her. Enter Rowland. The handsome, masculine man who turns the heads of all the ladies. Rowland is a playboy who will say anything to seduce young ladies. A love 'em and leave 'em person. He met his match with Lady Bryce. She does not succumb to his seduction, standing up for her beliefs of saving herself for marriage. Rowland said he will marry her, but still Bryce holds strong. Oh but she takes him at his word! She and her father even go so far as to meet with the king to get his blessing. Bryce uses her gift to visit Rowland in his dreams after he admits he only said those words as a way to get her to sleep with him. It works! But they face a few obstacles before they can live their "Happy Ever After".

This is the third book I have read by Leslie Hachtel. She has turned me in to a historical fiction fan!
