Daphne James Huff has been writing romance for adult and YA audiences since she was a young adult herself. Her favorite kind of story has a main character who thinks they've got it all figured out until someone barges into their life and messes everything up (Translation: Give her all the enemies to lovers books, please!).

Daphne works in HR during the day and fills her nights with reading, baking, and practicing whichever sport she’s fallen in love with most recently (2022 is her year of inline skating).

When she’s not writing, she enjoys partaking in her hobbies with her husband, son, and cat (though finding skates that will fit the cat has been a bit difficult).

So, this book includes I Dream of Fire, Part 1, and expands on it with Part 2. Part 1 left us hanging, so I decided to dive right into Part 2. The story crescendoed at about Chapter 59, and thereafter it seemed more to be tying up loose ends and setting up for another book. Which would have been fine, but I kept reading thinking that something more significant would happen. And while the book does seem to be about choices, I felt as if Charlie's choices didn't particularly make her happy. Content, maybe, but not really happy. It seemed as if Taylor, not Charlie, would have been the more interesting character to follow, because she's the one doing, not wondering "what if?".

So still a 4 star. The world is intriguing and the book sets up nicely, and promises more, but this book didn't quite give me that sense of satisfaction I look for in a story.

If Divergent and Minority Report had a baby it would be this book. I so completely loved it, especially the detailed background of the dreamers. This is the kind of book you go to bed thinking about and wake up itching to finish...except of course the part where you don’t want it to end.

i got an arc copy and i want to review
this book was a brilliant read and could be a glimpse into the future if we are not careful. dreamers are now used to predict what will happen. when she finds out she has the gift her mother tries to hide it from everyone else. what will happen next?
