From the Author
This book started out as a dream that flourished into reality. It was fun going back to my childhood and reliving some of wonders that only happen in sleep. Some of them were good and others nightmares. I often wondered if places like Oz and Wonderland existed--now I do. I hope you enjoy the book. I'd love to hear comments and feedback. It was well thought out, fun to get in to the heads of these kids. They seemed pretty realistic and believable. Gladamyr was by far my favorite character. Born as a nightmare, he wanted to change his ways and be something more than just a terror for children who found him in dreamland.
When a MARE (nightmare variety of dream creature) decides to take over both happy and bad sides of dreamland, Gladamyr with the help of two young teens who meet in dreamland and are the only ones with the ability to keep dreaming since Gladamyr still has their dream keys, team up to stop him.
This is an upper middle grade read, but even adults and older teens who love fantasy and magic would find this interesting.
The action sequences especially had all kinds of creative stuff going on. It wasn't just slashing swords and jabbing punches. The epic battles with all sorts of nightmarish creatures were vivid and exciting. My heart actually pounded!
I don't want to give too much away, but I'll make no secret of this: THIS IS A GREAT READ! I would think any solid reader (male or female) from about 10 to 100 years old would find something to enjoy about this book, and I would love to see this made into a movie. The special effects would be incredible eye candy.
I rate it 3. It's a fun story with an odd flow to it. It feels more like a bedtime story or ghost story, that just just keeps going, than a novel. Some of the writing is lack luster but there are some fun characters you'll come to love.
Relatable characters for young kids and, surprisingly, the small bits of romance were acceptable for my boy who is not interested in that kind of thing. Overall, this young adult fantasy is worth reading. Clean book and great for reading aloud.
