Dream of You is story number 4.5 in author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Wait For You series as well as novella number 9 in 1,001 Dark Nights’ 2015 line-up. This was also another first for me, thanks to the intro from 1,001 Dark Nights, and now that I’ve read and loved Dream Of You, I will certainly be picking up the rest of the books in this series!

As if being on the worst date in the history of dating wasn’t a bad enough way to spend an evening, young widow Abby Erickson suddenly finds herself in a circumstance that makes her lame date seem like a paradise….witnessing a murder. Yeah, that would do it. But a bright spot in this epically horrid evening was seeing Colton Anders. Colton, a blast from her high school past was now a detective and one of the men in charge of bringing the killers to justice and keeping her safe in the process.

Fate may have put her in the path of these killers but also out her in the path of her long lost crush. A long lost crush who may have had a thing for Abby, too? As much as she would love to believe that, he was the handsome and popular jock back then and she was the studious book nerd. Sure opposites attract all the time but no way could Colton have a thing for Abby like she did for him all those years ago….or could he? Maybe fate knew a thing or two….

From the very first page of this story I was hooked. Hell, from the very first sentence. Ms. Armentrout completely drew me in and I had so many feelings and emotions for Abby. Sure she witnessed an awful thing and I was scared for her safety, but more than that I was so sad for her that she had lost her husband so young and had really been alone since then. Four years. Alone.

Here's the thing - women are not perfect. Even at the best moment of our lives we are not perfect. And while I love reading about perfect bodies coming together, it's fiction. That's why this book is such a breath of fresh air.

Abby Erickson is not model material and she knows it. She beats herself up about it. And the douche date she has that tells her if she'd lose some weight she'd be hot is a jerk I'd like to backhand. Because that attitude is what has women always worried about how their behind looks in these stupid jeans. I LOVED that Abby walked out of that date. And thus sets the stage for a second chance of sorts.

Despite having had a boyfriend, that she later married, Abby noticed the hottie Colton in high school. Who wouldn't? Of course, even if she didn't have a boyfriend, she didn't feel like she had a chance with that boy. Thing is he noticed her too. Now, with Abby widowed and Colton very available, they meet under less than great circumstances. But Colton believes in second chances and he's on it.

I love this guy. Colton likes what he sees and hates that Abby doesn't see herself the way he does. He's on a mission to help her get it. And he's determined to protect her.

Yep, someone's wants her out of the way. She saw something they didn't want her to and that's not a good thing. So there's a suspense element to this story and I loved that. It drove this story from their meeting to helping them see things how they are between them. Really added a little something to this novella.

Of course it's a JLA book so it's hot and sexy. Colton plays the gentleman only so long before he shows his skills. And talk about skills, yeah the guy has them.

4.5 stars. I adored this novella. Abbi was a real and relatable heroine. All women have their hang-ups regarding their bodies, myself included, so I certainly understood her. Colton was delicious. I love how protective he was of Abbi, and his confidence was incredibly sexy. Couples who met in high school always make me smile, and I just loved how Colton had been as aware of Abbi as she was of him. The suspense element was a fun addition to the story. I was intrigued by Jillian's character and am hoping to see more of her in Brock's book. Overall, this was a great addition to the Wait for You series.

bby married her high school sweetheart and had a great job in the city- New York City. Then her parents died in a car crash and her hubby died in another car crash. What are the odds? So, she did what any gal would do and moved closer to her hometown. She bought a cute town house and after four years of mourning was attempting to get her life back on track. Which is why she said yes to the date- the date that she walks out on. It is then that she sees a horrific crime and ends up running from the criminals. Enter the detectives- one of which Abby went to school with Colton Anders. He is going to protect her from the criminals, but who will protect her from him?

Abby is adorable. She is well, every gal that I have ever met. Her insecurities are real, and she owns them. She has only been with one man her entire life and that man loved her. He was gone though and there was no one to love her anymore. This can make a gal even more insecure. Abby knows that this is her problem, she openly admits it.

Colton is even more adorable. He has always been attracted to Abby but she was taken. Now, that she is in danger she is even more attractive to him. He doesn’t understand where her insecurities are coming from but he wants to help. He likes her.

Bad guys are after Abby. Evil, bad guys with a gun. Evil, bad guys with a gun that are willing and ready to kill her. Holy smokes that is enough to send a gal into shock. Abby though she has already been through a lot. So she puts her big girl pants on and deals. I like that she doesn’t panic. I like that she looks at the situation as what it is a situation.

Dream of You is one of those stories that comes along and moves you. Not only does it move you but it shows you some realities of our world that we don’t want to admit.
