OK, so you know by my review of their 2010 album, "The PondHawks. . .Have Landed!" that I am their self-declared #1 Fan. With "Dreaming Over Ireland" their new EP for 2012, they have crafted (there is no other word for it) five of the best songs to ever be pressed into a CD and/or an mp3 by an indie band. I should state as I did in my first review of theirs that I, too, am a musician and listen to the music of others with a more "discerning ear" than most. When I listen to The PondHawks, I always like what I hear.

My favorite on this disc (and again it's tough for me to choose just one) is "Eerie Street," a toe-tapping, makes-you-wanna-get-up-and-dance-your-socks-off number that opens with a wailing Blues harmonica piece by former band member Roger Burden. (Yes, the band on this EP is composed of Mario Novelli, Jorie Gracen, Michael Gillespie, and John Rivera. Hey - The Beatles were just four, too, y'know! Heehee!) The title track, "Dreaming Over Ireland" has a Celtic flavor to it that goes down easy. "Sun Rain," "Drive," and "The Raven Flies Away" round out the tracks on this EP so much so that it really is a perfect and complete circle of sound.

As on their first release, The PondHawks blend their musical mastery into a rich texture of voices and music that just wrap around you in a blanket of comforting yet exhilarating and pulse-quickening sound. I find that no matter what my mood, The PondHawks have recorded a song to match it. Very Macca-esque music if I do say so myself. . .No wonder it's getting airplay on several different Continents. There's nothing to not like here. This EP is a really enjoyable listening experience.

The PondHawks have recently announced (June, 2012) that they are already working on their next release - Yay!

So, do I recommend "Dreaming Over Ireland?" You bet I do - and lots of it - and now! Buy This! The PondHawks Rock!
